My grandpa spends a lot of time watching the great grandkids baseball game streams. He loves watching them play but he doesn’t want to go spend entire days at the ballpark, or traveling back and forth to whatever World Series is going on this weekend, and can watch here and there throughout the day. Game changer is a pretty nice setup.

Filming an ab here and there is one thing. Live streaming the u8 "world series" from Lafayette 15 weekends a year is just stupid and a waste of time and money.

how is it a waste of money...it doesnt cost

and take for instance by scenerio...i have 3 boys..there are many times they have games on the same day, if it wasnt for streaming, wouldnt be able to watch. we have parents of kids on the team who work out of town, grandparents who work out of town, some work shift work and cant make it...should we not stream for those people to watch?

you also understand once you stream GC auto clips everything right? make it easy to go back and look at things maybe you can improve on, especially older HS age kids

There isn't a damn thing wrong with using current technology to film your kids sports endeavors. Parents have been filming kids baseball games for decades. Get over yourselves.

most of these mother frickers never played anything nor do they have kids. they hate everything that doesnt involve drinking at the duck camp...because that teaches "life skills"

Noone is saying it isnt great for grandparents. We're saying let someone else do the work of streaming it.

I don't get the guys who actually played sports up to the varsity level yet don't encourage the kids to do anything. They'd rather sit around and bitch about the parents who waste their time on it.

Theres a difference between going to your kids sporting events and being a helicopter parent that has to record your child's entire life. The good thing about memories is they aren't always accurate. The actual video of watching your child play probably won't live up to the memories of it.

There’s also a difference between streaming games live so that people that can’t go to the games have an opportunity to watch it live, versus recording a game on Betamax and dumping the tape in mammaw’s closet.

Fine, the concept of streaming games is beyond your appreciation. Doesn’t mean the rest of us are helicopter parents. What an odd concept to tear down others just because their life experiences are different than yours.

agree with this

well its usually one parent designated for GC/streaming, one keeping the book for the coach(until kids are older and can do it themselves), 1 in charge of music etc

real easy to say let someone else do it, but someone has to step up and it aint much work to stream it at all.

thats what the posters here do bro. if you are involved with your kid and they play sports...you are auto a helicopter parent living through them and you automatically think they are going pro.

if your kids dont play sports...they are considered nerds and fatty gamers....play at a high level and actually like it but have to play at times that effect drinking at the camp....well then you are just living through your kid

all this from 90% of people who have no kids to begin with and honestly have no clue. other 10% of the comments are from people who dont care about anything but hunting and fishing and drinking at the camp.

its sad...wouldnt want it to interfere with drinking at the camp. I hate to keep beating a dead horse on that but every single time these thread are brought up....it comes up. Saying how there is no way they could handle a kid playing such and such sport because no way they could let something cut into their social life so much.

the ot talks a big game, but seems most are really really shitty parents. or they are really old and kids grown or they dont have kids.

Yep.

6 yrs of softball here with my daughter.

Streaming has been pretty awesome technology for families of the kids on the field.

I know us Gen Xers out there remember playing sports with teammates who had a parent or both who couldn't make many games due to work. Or in my case on Saturday Mornings circa 1985, my mom would be at my football game while my dad took my brother to his soccer game across town and vice versa.

This technology is primarily for those folks. They aren't streaming games for Likes on Social Media or scouts.

I always love it when the parents say we are living through our kids. My question for them is, what high level athlete ever made it to where they are without a strong support system behind them?

The GoPro has a terrible battery. You'll need at least two of them for one game, unless you bring a portable charger and hook that up to the GoPro.
The Mevo battery will last through 2 games easily on one charge.

always

its funny because you even have gate keeping at the highest level with fricking douche bag like jeff frye......how dare kids train to get better at skills that matter....you just have to want it more like jeff frye

or like Arod the other night talking about how he got cut from varsity as a freshman and that fueled him to just want it more than other kids and he bemoans weight lifting or any type of formal training until after high school and said kids need to learn to work hard and wait their turn......yet....

1) arod transferred fricking high schools after not making his varsity squad

2) he started lifting weights and routinely talked about how that helped him at the start of his career. Lets not even discuss that very good possibility that this is when he started juicing too.

3) he started formal training right after being cut

but hey "just have to want it more" and dont forget boys and girls...make sure you swing down too.

Here’s where I struggle with this trend. I have young kids.

Never for a single second have I even been tempted to record a t-ball or other Rec sport game. Ever.

Watch your kids and live in the moment. Current trends of wanting to record or photograph every waking second of everything that happens all the time really suck. You’re never going to watch any of that shite.

It looks like a Go Pro Hero or Go pro would work just fine with Gamechanger. I mean they sell Camera
fence sticks from the gamechanger website.

what if i told you, you can spend 30 seconds before the game starts setting up your mevo camera, and stream the game so your kids grandparents who don't live nearby can watch their grandchildren play, and then you can go sit down and watch the entire game without taking any pictures or videos during the game.

And then, if you wanted to, you could rewatch that game to show your son that indeed that was a strike and he should have swung the bat, or maybe he was doing somethign wrong in his swing and you can help correct him, all while acknowledging your son will not be playing college baseball, and probably not even high school baseball if he plans on going to Catholic High, and you enjoy life watching your kids, allowing your parents to watch your kids, and trying to help them be the best they can, without being a stereotypical idiot travel ball parent that yells at umpires and their kids, and takes youth baseball way too seriously.

I’ve used both. Mevo is much easier. If you don’t mind doing extra stuff to do it, get the go pro. If you want easy and good quality, get the mevo.
