If the left fielder doesn't act like a crybaby bitch the Bertman is never a thing.

knew it was bad but holy shite. Poor guy really had to run and hide. And lets be honest, who would not have gone after that ball?????

Everyone in that stadium would've gone for that ball. I don't think he even reached over the field for it, it was in the stands if I recall.

The bigger travesty was the Cubs shortstop making a silly error that same inning. He should be blamed more.

Well Buckner got it maybe even worse. He said he would never go back but once they won all that was forgotten. That would be a great moment in sports if he came back and was forgiven.

Neither man deserved such hate. The difference is, Buckner was a player and some of that grief comes with the territory. Bartman was just a fan who caught a ball that went right to him.

You're not offending me everyone has their own opinion. I was born and raised in central Illinois. I just don't like how the state is always recognized by Chicago.

There are 2 different type of people; people who live north that is nowhere near Chicago (i.e. People from Rockford/other northern towns) say they're from Chicago. The rest of the state hates Chicago and will tell you where they're from.

I've been out of Illinois for 10 years and I'm moving back in July. Only going back to get my free education that I've earned in the military, then moving back out of the state.

Pretty sure he has been invited back several times, naturally he has refused.

Maybe if the Cubs can win the series.

I didn't know he was invited back. Maybe if they actually win he will feel safe enough to do so. Just finished watching the documentary and what kind of a-hole friends did this guy have. They totally bailed on him at the stadium and wouldn't pick up there phones.

Lol, I know some from Rockford and they don't consider themselves from Chicago. They're proud of their rustic jeep factory and cornfields.

Why are you going to school in Illinois if you don't plan on staying? My bosses (both Illini grads) live pointing out Illinois is the worst state in the country in getting an education because the schools are so bankrupt. (Unless you are going to private school, nice)

He still lives and works in Chicago. He's not really in hiding, he just likes being private. But he was like that before

I'm going to use the Illinois Veterans Grant (which pays for a bachelors) & cash in on the MGIB instead of the Post 9/11. BAH for central Illinois is low where as MGIB is $1790/mo.

You are correct the schools are bankrupt it's pretty sad. I'm going to a community college (which is one of the best in the state) then probably transfer to U of I. The only reason why I'm going back is because school is free.

Good luck. I

I just moved up here and it's fine, but I can't imagine raising a family here or wanting to.

The only thing is in my industry, it's either here, NYC, London, Singspore, India, Hong Kong, or Jacksonville.

Fact is, the Cubs weren't good enough to close it out even after Bartman's interference. They had their chances.

Cubs winning the World Series this year would be the only storyline that could make baseball fun again. It would literally save the sport

Damn. Thats not a bad deal at all. I went in with the post 9/11 GI when I got out but Missouri just offered reduced tuition "yellow ribbon program".

Good luck brother.

Steve Bartman interfered with the ball is amazing. That poor guy took some life changing grief for it. I recommend it to all you sports fans out there.

Do you think they would invite him back if they break the curse like Boston did with Buckner? He came out to roars of cheers and threw out the first pitch.

I went with my father & brothers to a baseball/football card show in Chicago in 2008; they offered Bartman 100K to walk in a sign one baseball. He didn't show.
