There are reasons for having your forces dispersed. That doesn't mean they have to be at BAFB, though.

I live in Dallas and have heard about almost all of these. I treat myself to ten minutes of depression every morning reading the shreveport news.

well you know where this will end up

the area came a lot closer to losing that base as they've known it years ago when the military began consolidating and forming composite active duty/reserve bases, it was a toss up between Barksdale and Carswell, as I referenced above, that was while Bennett Johnston was still in office and he was instrumental in keeping it where it is

It did surprise me to read that. I'll be honest. Not about Shreveport, but I guess when you add the stuff up, it's worse then you think in bossier city too.

Bossier has a higher overall crime rate than Shreveport.

George D'Artois

Let's not go overboard. D'Artois was essentially a mob boss who had a guy murdered to cover up his crimes.

that was never proven, but aside from that minor hiccup during his time in office, there's no denying he ran that town with an iron fist, and it was a safe, clean city, and a good one to raise a family in when he was in charge

The culcha has ruined both cities, and with the culcha friendly environment these days it’s not going to get any better... just a fact

not a fact at all

we have already seen both cities improve from the 80s and 90s

crime is spiked up a bit the past few years, but I'll bet it will drop back down before we reach 80s/90s level crime again

Shreveport/Bossier are just following national trends with crime. Look up almost all city crime data and they all follow the same trend line. Shreveport/Bossier isn't immune to such trends.

Shreveport committed suicide. Its problems are all self inflicted. Could’ve been Nashville but said “nah.”

That and the Wallace Lake crash in the 1950s doomed the city.

My cousin went from Barksdale to Minot to Vandenburg. They'll retire out there despite being from Shreveport-Bossier.
