Yep, I always sort of thought I might take what I've learned in enterprise level business and take that back to Louisiana to build something significant out of my parent's company, but that ship sailed a decade ago.

one of these situations was a domestic event with an ex-husband, could have happened anywhere.

My fiancé was doing her ER PA rotation last year in at LSU-S. They’d get at least 5 or so GSWs a day, probably more but I can’t remember exactly.

Obviously, so don't make stuff up. Shreveport has a crime problem but your post is rdiculous.

Shreveport/Bossier is a shithole. Police chief will probably accuse him of racism.

How about the chick who ran over another chick over some tpos. This type of shite happens daily in Shreveport, it’s fricking pathetic & as soon as I can get out of this shithole I’m gone.
Since the commander penned this letter to city leaders, I would be willing to bet that we’ve seen 5-10 shootings with 2-3 fatality’s.

Let’s face it, this is what we as louisiana residents are used to. All the politicians and celebrities who think we are a bunch of backwoods hicks who live in a swamp- because that is what has been programmed into them- never ever see. There is a certain demographic here that lives like animals, and now an outsider is getting him some truth slapped in his face.

Shreveport doesn't have the market cornered on this, and I'd be willing to bet he's seen this before, he is a part of this community right now and is rightfully expressing his concerns, imo

No we didn't, the crooked sonofabitch was hardcore. Once my parents pass, I'll never go back again.

It also helps that he has some stroke behind him as commander of the 2ndBW. I’m thankful that he is expressing concern, our community needs a wake up call.
Cultcha will continue to put blame on someone else though.

Shreveport’s a member of the Culcha club, Colonel. Not much you can do.

Oh, there’s things we can do. We just prevent ourselves from doing them because of a blowback from people within the community for doing them. And then the national voices start complaining over the heavily concentrated numbers from the black community in the Louisiana prison system.

The answer, or answer to what we can do as a society, is put many more boots on the ground and then lock them up.

Fixing societal ills like family life and the like we cannot even come close to solving, but locking their asses up, we can do that. Make no mistake about it. We can fix the problem. It’s just will our society let us fix the problem. That’s what’s going on.

Cities like Shreveport, BR etc elect people that have no interest in addressing the issue. If they did get tough on crime they'd face massive blowback from their own electorate. Makes me want to move my family to Idaho.

That’s one choice. There’s really only 3 choices we have.

1). Stay in Louisiana and hope people snap out of it before it’s too late.

2). Stay in Louisiana and just learn to accept a future third world because nothing will change and it will get worse over time.

3) Uproot the family and move elsewhere like our ancestors did when they couldn’t stick it out any longer and make a better life for yourself and your kids and future generations in the process.

Good thing though is, unlike our ancestors, you don’t have to necessarily learn another language, just maybe learn to cook and do without Tony Chacheres, crawfish, and community coffee. I’ve done it twice before. It’s really not that big of a deal.

Gotta get that Air Medal plate. Free parking anywhere at DFW.

Most military bases are not in the best parts of town. I am sure this commander will get a talk from a higher up next week.

the bad part of town usually evolves and gravitates to the base after it's opened

ETA: "Air Medal plate" I think you are towed from the schoolhouse parking lot if you don't have one of those

Maybe but not this one
I grew up there a few blocks off base and had a wonderful and safe childhood there. sold my dads house last year
Maybe a little bit downhill but not a bad area and we lived in the enlisted person neighborhood
Lots of officer neighborhoods and upper middle to white collar neighborhoods in area
Now bossier is the preferred area
Crime more in Shreveport and onthe other side of bridge from the base
