Can someone translate this to old bars? The old tiger bar, I’m assuming? Not Fred’s, sports/sports illustrated/Reggie’s, Rotolos, senior frogs, stadium club, etc?

When they said “burn it down and start over” they weren’t kidding.

I do not miss those old Tigerland Bars: The Tiger, Sports Illustrated, Fred's, Snorkel's.

Of all those bars the best one was Sports Illustrated. I always thought the Tiger had bad lighting. Snorkel's was okay since it was smaller. Sports had better fights. I never really liked Fred's.

What’s become of the Bayou, Slinky’s etc on chimes street? Bulldozed or gentrified? Always thought that was a superior location for college bars.

Love it!

I've heard a story that a bar in that exact location did in fact burn down in the '80s.

In the mid 80’s I hung out at Cilly’s since my roommate was a bartender. Did Cilly’s later become the Tiger Bar ?

I'm amazed when they actually do declare arson around here.

Not that the arson investigators are incompetent as much as they are heavily leaned on to say "No, grandmama didn't intentionally set on fire. She just accidentally left the oven cooking and then went on vacation for a week."

Those were the bars where I spent most of my time. Bayou is long gone. That part of Chimes has been gentrified. That block of bars (Slinky's, Library Joes, Bayou) was awesome.

So a juvenile set the fire, which started inside the bar in an office. Quite suspicious...

And I'm shocked nobody made a Talking Heads/Burning Down The House reference
