Posted by Message White Russian Bald Eagle in Walker.... There's a nest not too far from LSU on River Road. It's sort of across the road from Farr Park. The two that hatched this year already look fully grown. It's pretty cool to see them flying around.

This. We go out there weekly.

My girlfriend works at the vet school so ive seen a couple face to face, they are some mean bastards.

I saw one the year after Katrina in July while fishing of a pier in Biloxi.

Huge, beautiful creature.

I saw one in Walker off Duff last summer.
Took some pictures of it, tried to see how close i could get to it. I was probably about 100 feet from it when it flew away. Could not believe how big it's wingspan was. Had to be about 8 feet.

There's one in Old River. Took my son fishing there a little while back and saw it sitting in the nest. Pretty cool for sure.

I'm not sure why everyone is so surprised seeing these around south Louisiana. I see at least 1 or 2 a week.

I've see the one around New Orleans near the interstate and saw one in the Amite River in Watson about 5 years ago. This one was cruising the neighbhoods 10 acre pond next door. What's deal? Are they just finally coming back or just migrating to the south. Seems like they shouldn't even be here.

There are plenty of eagles around the North Shore.

It is. There was one sitting at the top of a dead pine tree. It was the tallest tree around. Over looking the lake.
Pretty awesome.

Also saw one swoop down and grab a fish. It gave me a patriotic boner.

It's crazy. they don't make the sound like you always think they make. They whistle.
