The deputy was a responder and a second accident occurred. I’m assuming he was rendering aid at the first accident at the time. Terrible situation.

I got off the exit when I saw the flames. When I got to the red light off the exit the first 18 wheeler that was on fire there was a cop and another guy relentlessly trying to get the driver out the cab. The cop shot the window out after numerous attempts of trying to break it. I watched the guy try to get out the window when another loud explosion happened. The cop and guy trying just couldn’t do much with all the flames. I’ve read that the guy never got out according to some Facebook post. It was the most helpless thing I could have ever felt knowing there was nothing that my coworker and I could do to help assist getting the man out. It’s an image I can’t stop seeing since. All I can do is just pray for everyone that was affected by this sick tragedy

I went to out to pick up dinner around 6:30-7pm. When you leave my neighborhood you can see the overpass. Still had a lot of emergency vehicles there. Sad to see.

The last thing I could ever watch is another human being burned alive and you can't do anything about it.

East

The accidents are always east bound in that area. I drive that stretch Monday-Thursday and the traffic east bound is always screwed up. Something has to be done about it. West bound is no picnic but no where near as bad as east bound.

Traffic tends to stall there creating potential accidents like this.

This! At multiple times during the day - even before rush hour (1pm-2pm) - traffic slows to a crawl for absolutely no apparent reason. It starts to slow as you cross the Tchefuncte River heading east and starts backing up toward Goodbee. Right after you cross the bridge, it speeds up again. It's just stupid. A friend theorized that people see the sign that says "Tchefuncte River" and because it's an odd sounding name with the funny spelling, they slow down to rubber-neck.

Yes, they are sickening!!! After seeing still shots and videos I need a stiff drink or a tranquilizer.

Everyone slows down to look into the river. If they install those 10’ rails where you can’t see anything then traffic will begin to flow normally again.

I think it often has something to do with the two private schools letting out.

Everyone slows down not to look into the river, but because that bridge doesn’t give you a view past it. Traffic from 12 onto 190 is backed up regularly to the bridge and people freak out about traffic over the bridge being at a standstill.

Add into that equation the new on ramp right before the Tchefuncta bridge and the bridge over 21 which makes another blind spot before that on ramp and it’s a absolute cluster frick.
