A 20-year-old babysitter is facing child abuse charges for tattooing two kids that he was looking after – and the parents are facing charges for trying to remove the tattoos with a scalding hot razor blade.
Alexander Edwards of Rustburg, Virginia has been charged with child abuse after using a home tattoo kit to tattoo two children that he was watching without their parent’s consent. It’s unclear how old the children are but reports list them as under 13. The incident occurred on December 22, 2013 while the parents were out.
One of the girls had her name tattooed on her shoulder. It’s unclear what the other sister got.
Then things went from bad to horrific. Melissa Delp returned home with her boyfriend Daniel Janney to find the kids tattooed. Janney attempted to use a hot razor blade to remove the ink.
L.T. Guthrie of the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office says “It didn’t help the situation any. It added more scarring.”
The couple now faces two counts of child neglect and malicious wounding.
Both girls testified at the hearing which was closed to the public by Judge A. Ellen White who cited the age of the children as reason to keep media out.
Janney is currently being held in jail without bond. Delp has been released on bond and appeared in court wearing street clothes.
Edwards is also in police custody and will stand trial on May 12. He faces two counts of felony child abuse, two counts of abduction, and two counts of malicious wounding.

It really is sort of like the motherlode.

Even the name of the town sounds trashy. And I'd bet $50 Sheriff L.T. Guthrie is a spitting image for

I didn't really consider that because it would seem to be assumed that the tattooing was without their consent. But, hell, given all the other weird trashiness there, maybe it's not, and that's what it meant.

so can all kidnappers claim they were babysitting now in hopes of lesser charges?

Surprised the parents didn't just keep the tats, since they both have them around their neck areas

All I could think was, maybe they just didn't like style the non-consensual babysitter was going with.

That article is horribly written but if this reads like it should, how the hell was he watching the children without their consent?

I'm guessing that since the tats were done with a home tattoo kit (who know there was such a thing?) they may not have been up to the parents' artistic standards.
