Grandmothers maiden name is Fischer. Naming my first son that.

Does't Micah sound like an strong Amish boy name? Biblical and old fashioned?
Why not Mose or Jebodiah?

I'm not advocating for it.

We named our daughter Magnolia. It is somewhat different but there were many different reasons behind it. People call her Maggie and we are fine with that. If that is what she wants to go with when she goes to school, fine with me.....
I'd take Brynlee over Magnolia all day every day.

use names traditional in your family. It gives a child a since of family and heritage and that they are a part of a legacy.
Not necessarily doing the Jr. or III, but pick and choose combinations from grandparents etc.
Example, my first name is from 1 Grandfather and my middle name is from the other. Did not think much of it as a kid, but know I treasure it.

This is exactly how my name came about too, and I really like it, especially as an adult.

I floated this idea for our son, but there really wasn't a good way to combine the grandfathers' names.

And it's the Southern thing to do!

There was a kid in my niece's class at Little Gate named Jacques. I thought that was a cool name. In my family we do traditional family names, which I like. I like Henry, Oliver, Abigail, Elizabeth etc.

I kinda dig Charlotte, but I would just everyone asking her if she's named after the city.

Baby names: where's the line between creative and obnoxious?

dude...Brynlee is a terrible name.
Wait, someone really said "you should try to get out more" for thinking the name Brynlee is awful?
Holy fricking mackerel!
This has to be a Southern thing. I asked my co-workers here in the midwest what they thought of the name. Of the roughly 20 workers, half of them liked the name, a fourth were OK with it, and a fourth didn't care for it. As a general rule, we are a lot more progressive and don't live in the past, which is why I said you need to get out more. I have noticed how much different the names are in the south, north, west, east, etc.
I'm sure some names which southerners like would be considered old fashioned in other parts of the country.

You think Brynlee is a progressive name?
Dude, it will be ok, you named your daughter Brynlee. It won't doom her for the rest of her life, but it's still a terrible name.
