B-2 accident today

It’s on social media, so this isn’t necessarily breaking news but a B-2’s left landing gear collapsed on landing today. Both pilots safely egressed the aircraft after it came to a stop. Probably won’t have any more details until after there is both a Safety Investigation and Accident Investigation and those can take weeks/months.

K... keep me briefed.

There goes about a $10M repair bill. Maybe the Ukrainians will loan us the money to fix it.

Isn’t Mule, Coco’s wife’s ex-husband a B2 pilot?

Couldn't handle the pressure of the new B-21 coming for its market share.

No idea who that is.

Probably a dumb question, but with the size/shape of the B-2, does it just land with the gear that successfully extended or does it pull them back up and land on its belly in a situation like this?
Edit: nvm, read it wrong, thought that one of the gear didn’t extended before landing

It wasn’t a failure to extend. Both gear were extended. Gear collapsed after landing.

If only the money weren’t minted on behalf of a Big Bank loan that will never be repaid so that in some 4,400 page piece of legislation the government can mint the payback sum with interest to give back to the big bank in 3-7 years.

Reading comprehension fail there, imagine me being one of those pilots trying to go through the checklist

I’m a Weapons System Officer, not a pilot. I drop the bombs and shoot the missiles. Pilots are just the bus drivers.
B-52 is biggest I’ve crewed. Also flew in KC-135, RC-135, E-8, and C-130.

They’ll replace it, lives weren’t lost. They will and have pull the aircraft log book immediately and conduct an investigation.

I was assuming it was to fix the brakes and some of the fuselage but yeah, it could easily escalate depending on the damage. Maintenance chief is probably sweating bullets.
