I can't answer for blueboxer, but in general, it is for wellness and healing. Modern life has us bound up in ways we can't even perceive (and I say this as an unrepentant Westerner).

Intentional psychedelics have a huge power to heal and transform. Everything from depression, to PTSD to general malaise.

I googled it bc I never heard of it before. Day time sounds fun, night time could be hell. I'm out.

Psilocybin and 5 are during the day. Aya can be either. Iboga tends to be at night.

This is not a good reason to be afraid.

This is intriguing as hell. Gonna have to deep dive on this one.

Which one would you recommend to be a better consumer of material goods? I need something that helps me make better shopping choices, something that leads me to the best option when I want to buy some quality pretzels on Amazon.

Yeah, it's relatively obscure but been around for eons.

I would recommend starting with the podcast I linked for info/context and then giving the Shawn Ryan a whirl to hear somebody's direct experience.

I think I pretty much believe it's the most curative medicine in the world. It's physical too - if you have joint pain and stuff like that, it can even ease that for awhile.

There are multiple charities for veterans that exist to send them "on scholarship" on iboga retreats.

Heroic Hearts

The stories are crazy. Vets that are PTSD and addicted to the hilt at the end of the rope will come back unaddicted and reset.

For that, I'm going to recommend bathtub gin. I know a guy up on Plank Road if you need a referral.

Your choices for retreats are:

psilocybin (mushrooms)
iboga
ayahuasca
5meo-DMT (toad)

I can make solid recommendations for all 4 in terms

There are a LOT of much weirder things that we treat as commonplace in 2024.

I know folks that were released from addiction by opening the mind via the sources previously mentioned.

The human brain is like a fertile field. You dont know what it can do until you plants seeds and carefully cultivate it.

People that have been on these spiritual journeys know and people that haven't, cannot imagine what is out there. And by saying "what is out there" I really mean "what is in there"

I have a friend whose wife did it in Peru, then came home and told him her vision was that they must get divorced.

Now look, maybe Stella got her groove back down there and made an excuse, but consider this to be a roll of the dice as to how it might change your life.

Also remember you’re essentially hard rebooting your brain.

Serious question, why don't people just use acid in the comfort of their home versus going through all the trouble and risks of a retreat in the Amazon for ayahuasca?

Well for me, I’ve never done acid. Wouldn’t know where to buy acid, or if they were legitimate.

Never done an ayahuasca retreat but have experience with psychedelics such as LSD, mescaline, and psilocybin. I would love to do a retreat one day but just can't justify it with a family and two kids right now. Maybe when the kids go off to college.

I will say that I think it's a shame that ibogaine treatment is illegal in the US. I have done lots of research on it and just the results it has on things like addiction would be well worth there being access for Americans. One of the coolest things I ever saw was a documentary about a place in Mexico for opioid addiction where they put you under and give you some sort of drug (I would assume naloxone) to rapidly detox the patient in like 24 hours instead of going through withdrawals for a week or more. Then they wake you up and guide you through an ibogaine experience. I'm not sure what percentage of patients stay sober, but the ones I saw interviewed completely changed their lives. Then hearing about it on Shawn Ryan's podcast and the good it has done for veterans with PTSD. It just seems the benefits greatly outweigh the cons with it.

Supposedly can help significantly with addiction and poor coping mechanisms, which is my interest. I drink too much.
