Usually when I hear a song that I like I will try to find a video of them doing it live. Often the live performance is very good too. But it is unreal in 2018 how frequently the live performance is God awful

What's even more disturbing though is how many comments under the videos will talk about the people missing all of the notes in terms of having great talent.

I mean people can differ on taste in music. That's normal. But if the singer can't hit any of the notes correctly and the group can't harmonize then they suck.

It's crazy how modern technology can take someone who literally cannot sing at all and turn them into a popstar

Personally I don’t like perfection in singing, the little flaws add a human element that adds to the song.

there's imperfection and then there's just can't hit the notes

The use of autotune in live concerts is more frequent than you may think, even in country(well pop country)

I don’t think that’s what he’s saying. He’s sayin being good, not perfect, makes music a unique human experience. That when you produce it/polish it to the point of perfection it becomes almost robotic and it looses its aspect of being made by people, not by machines.

This is actually why I go find the live videos. When the person is talented, I tend to enjoy the human element a lot more than the recording.

But pitch is pitch and if you're missing 50% of the notes, you can't sing. I just listened to a song I kinda liked this morning it was just a train wreck on 4 different live performances.

For a while there was a video of the last stop of George's The Cowboy Rides Away tour on YouTube. The entire set was post-mixed with autotune and that was the closest I've ever gotten to cancelling my internet service.

How dare you compare the two. The Wonder Bra is great to look at. Auto-tune makes my ears bleed.

I don't listen to or like ny of the styles of music that have/use Auto tune. Most of that shite sucks, period.

Used to do mixes for Disney artists back in the day. We sometimes had someone nail the vocal track, then had the Disney artist do their track, and just line it up in Melodyne. It was quicker.

Auto tune was great for helping artist on limited budget get a quality product. It’s unfortunate it has been abused

The wonder bra makes you think she has tits

Auto tune makes you think the singer is hitting the correct notes

What's really fascinating is the use of auto-tune in rap. I mean really?

better tits, even if an illusion, are not a bad thing. I'm not kidding myself by thinking I'll be able to see them without the bra.

Well, when we started to laud rappers for having musical talent what the hell do you expect? Actual musical talent went by the wayside.

That Florence and the Machine wannabe on SNL this past episode came out and sang the entire first half of the song flat as a board. Sounded absolutely horrendous bit I don't think anybody even noticed.

We have a whole world full of wooden ears these days. We might just have to close up shop on music altogether.
