I have an ‘85 CJ-7, got it back in 2010 for $3500.

The body is in great shape, but unfortunately it’s got the 2.5L 4 banger in it. Been trying to find a 258 for it, but they don’t come around very often.

The previous owner painted it gray, it was originally red. One day if I can, I want to paint it green. Like most here, I don’t drive it in summer. Maybe I should put A/C in it.

I bought a new CJ7 in ‘84. It was red and had the 258 six with a four speed. Man, I had some good times in that for 4 years and sold it. Sure wish I had it back.

I had a red TJ with camel interior so I’m partial to that color scheme.

Will post the final product when they get it completed. Had to do a bit of metal work to fix a few rust issues in the floor pans. Had very little bondo once we finished sand blasting. Going steel gray metallic with the black grey renegade badging. Final product should appraise around $28-32 G.

I had this one back in 1982. I now have a 2015 that is nice but it is not the same.

Thats wonderful in Hattiesburg.

Otherwise it has all of the class of a 1979 vintage Trans-Am hood decal.

tl/dr: Hard pass

This thread makes me miss my 80 CJ-7 with a built 360, TF-999, D30, AMC20.

Had a modified 2000TJ Sport that was totalled and now drive a 2015 JKUR.

One son and one daughter got old TJ’s in high school. Both of them have done every bit of maintenance themselves. It’s great education and experience. Also, we’ve threatened to disown them if they ever sell them.

Not a fan of modern chrome but it does a great job of capturing the flair of that era. Great job so far!
