I had a 78 CJ7 with the 304 v8 and 3 speed tranny.. I could beat anything from light pole to light pole. I had the tranny rebuilt twice in the 4 years I had it.. It was a rusty red color and had some strips on the hood.. I painted it white. It was a damn fun thing..

ETA Are you going to do the full roll bar/cage?

No only the original roll bar. Had it powder coated along with the spare tire arm.

One of the crazy things that happened.. The clutch arm assembly is bolted to the bell housing and it is a stress point.. The damn thing cracked off and I had no clutch pedal. I was down in the French quarter at 2 in the morning. I ended up starting it in first gear and I could shift gears w/o the clutch to get home. don't remember if the bell housing was aluminum or iron?

I had an 81/82 CJ7 and it was Sand color with a Blue interior. Got a lot of thumbs up back in the day but not sure how that would be received now.

My ‘85 is a very similar color. It was originally Garnet Red.

I’d prefer Hunter Green over either color.

This looks like a fun thread. Here is my project vehicle I'm getting started on:

1976 Bronco 302 3spd. She needs a lot of work but I've got her running and driving around my neighborhood.

If you don’t mind revealing, how much did the body work and paint job cost you?

After doing a bit of body work, floor pans, electrical myself roughly 6-7 grand for paint, sand blasting, top and new interior…
