Fits the signs of being drunk, but also fits the signs of someone that just crossed over 2 lanes of traffic and had a head injury.

people said they guy admitted to drinking and he wasn't give a breathalyzer or blood test.

May have a legal requirement to administer the field sobriety test and only able to give a breathalyzer or blood test if they fail.

At what does it become a crime for me to beat the shite out of a drunk who just hit me and my family head on?
Either way I don’t care. He’s gonna get his legs broke so he can’t run and we both catching charges I guess

I been thinking this recently when driving drunk on the streets, how you never worry about getting pulled over anymore, the only way you are getting a dui is crashing and even then who knows

Texas Senator got pinched a little over a month ago in Austin. Stopped for weaving (not the nappy kind).

Can't do that. Have to let him start running so you can chase him down. Just make sure you don't "accidently trip him" and he bites the curb

I had a friend that would joke about keeping a bottle of vodka in his car so that if he got pulled over for DUI, he would refuse to roll his window down, drink the booze, then later claim that he was sober when he was pulled over but just got nervous and decided to chug the vodka. I told him to try it out and let us know how it goes.

Yes I am sure. Maybe time to recheck your information source.

this is BS, no way you sober up more than the tiniest bit and it wont change your reading on a breathalyzer enough to avoid jail.

now if he was a 0.800000000 at time of accident, then maybe he was a 0.799999999 after 2 1/2 hrs to just miss the DUI charge, but thats very very unlikely

If he was 0.8, he would have been dead before the accident.

Is 2.5 hours enough to sober up enough to avoid charges if he was falling on the ground drunk?

Takes me 2.5 days

the suspect was given a sobriety test, passed and was not arrested.

What was the test? (On separate note is saying the alphabet backwards from z to a something sober people do regularly like counting down numbers backwards to be just as proficient at it?)

Between witness statements and the swerving across 2 lanes of traffic to hit another vehicle head on it seems like they could have gotten a warrant to test driver’s blood.

If alcohol not involved it still seems like something should be done to stop this guy in his 70s from driving again. Wreck was the result alcohol, drugs, dementia, or some combination.

The Austin Police Department confirmed to Fox News Digital that they received the 911 call at 4:18 p.m. and the first police unit was not assigned until 6:11 p.m.
They should have said, "At the intersection of Jolley Road and MLK, there's two pit bulls tearing into a mother and her baby."

Officer would be there in 3 minutes. "There's dogs to shoot!"

In 2.5 hours, something like 0.10 to 0.75 is probably possible. But people usually aren't incoherent stumbling wrecks incapable of getting out of a vehicle at 0.10.
