This is probably the worst explanation I've ever heard for a shooting by a cop. Holy shite.

No police shooting "warrants a riot."

If a cop walked up to a group of babies and executed all of them while wearing a nazi flag and the district attorney refused to prosecute and then started curb stomping infants on the nightly news and laughing maniacally... No riot?

That's weird. I thought cops only shot black people.

The officers’ body cameras were not turned on at the time and the squad camera did not capture the incident.
Should result in immediate firing of the officers involved.

Body camera not turned on in the event of a officer shooting which is not clear cut should be automatic prison time.

That would end officer's conveniently forgetting to turn them on.

That's dumb.

Isn't there technology that we have that would auto turn a body cam on one you unhosteler a weapon? That should be the solution.

Cop will be tried and sentenced to do some time. A certain community will be outraged because why did she get "justice" and not Michael Brown et all.

Same exact region as Philandro. So yeah they'll cry about it.

That would require some type of 802.11 tech or bluetooth which both require some type of battery source.

Since the signal should only be a few feet the battery source wouldn't need to be large but would have to be charged every night.

The point in the law is to make sure it NEVER happens.

I bet if threatened with jail time you wouldn't forget EVER.

I believe the emphasis in officer safety (which has greatly reduced the number of fatal shootings of the police) has some adverse consequences.

Cops draw their guns too often. "Guns out" increases the likelihood of an errant or bad shooting.

I am sure this is possible.

The bigger question is whether the police unions would allow this "invasion of privacy" (the typical argument against mandatory body cams).

Low power bluetooth.

Laser attached to holster.

When gun is removed, laser views change in propagation, activates camera via bluetooth link.

BRB getting patent.

I feel like the justice part of this isnt nearly as important as the prevention side of this. If the body cams had been rolling would this have happened?

I work for a tech company and we were supposedly developing some sort of wearable that would do this. Not sure where it went. We were working with Jacksonville PD. I really can't believe there isn't something like this.

This shouldn't be terribly difficult to build. The hardest part would be making sure the device does not interfere with an officer withdrawing quickly to respond. Akin to that video we saw with fricknut driver charging officer with rifle.

I bet actually you can design a holster to include all the above and have usb charging or USB-C for fast charging.

Anyone wanna go in dibs with me to make a shite ton of money real quick?
