about to be a change in scenery for me. currenty with tmobile but looking at map in louisiana and baton rouge area specifically, tmobile doesn't look like it has good coverage. is this accurate?
sprint, i'll pass.
only real two options or so it appears is att and verizon. any known issues (dead areas or weak service) with either in baton rouge area?

My husband has a Verizon work phone and a Cricket personal phone (Cricket uses the AT&T network). He says they're both about the same in BR.
I use Verizon. The only area I have issues in is some parts of my neighborhood, but it might just be my POS phone (doesn't work in the house without Wifi assisted calling).

what specifically about att?
i imagine their customer service is awful, just like directv --- but assuming i get an unlimited plan, i don't think i will have a need to call them.

i don't think i have heard of cricket before. is that a prepaid plan?
is it less expensive than att traditional network plans?

I am a former Verizon employee, have had Verizon for nearly 20 years. It once was great, but sucks now and is really overpriced.

if i remember correctly, it looks like verizon is the most expensive of the big 4. i think att is next.
i'd like to keep tmobile because of download speeds and tax included, but service looks iffy in baton rouge.
sprint is the cheapest by far, but i suppose they have to be given their network issues.

Cricket is a no-contract place that you can pay month to month. They have good deals on multiple lines and it's discounted if you set up auto-pay. They have stores around town, so if you have a problem or want a new phone, you can go into the store (or order online) and talk to someone slightly more knowledgeable than the Walmart electronics idiots who sells pre-paid plans there.
We started off my daughter on a Cricket plan because it was cheap and our phones were tied to work plans. When my husband decided to get a second phone for personal use, he went with Cricket because we liked their customer service.

thank you. i own my phone (not tied to a lease or owe anything on it) and it can be used on any network, so i don't anticipate having to sign a contract.

I switched to Verizon hoping coverage would be better in Southdowns but it’s not. All seems about the same to me so far.

I’ve had Sprint, AT&T and have been with Verizon since approximately 2012. Of those three, Verizon is the best with Sprint the worst...ATT isn’t that far behind. Yes, Verizon is expensive but I’ve never had any significant issues with their service. There are very few areas where I don’t have excellent coverage, especially around BR.

When yall are comparing coverage, are yall talking phone calls/texts msgs/data??
Wondering how to best judge

for me, all of the above. there are very few things that are more frustrating when you have a good signal and data does not work and same for text.
i suppose voice would be last because even the worst carriers have decent voice coverage today.

Outside of LSU events: Verizon is the tops

I moved to Baton Rouge a few months ago and have att and have no problems.
With Verizon, i think that you can’t be on the internet and on the phone at the same time, which doesn’t seem like a big deal, except for the one time you need to google something while on the phone with ya baw and then you regert being with Verizon.

Verizon LTE let's you use internet while on phone. 3G is the only issue, but now days it's rare to not have LTE coverage.

I have Cricket and love it. 4 lines, unlimited is only $100 a month (including tax).
As already said, it uses AT&T service, and the only problem I have with it is at a large gathering of people, such as a LSU football game. It was a little slow at the Spanishtown Parade.

I have no problems with Verizon as far as call, texts or data. I have LTE and can access the internet, if needed, when I’m on a phone call. I’d recommend Verizon but that’s just me.
