Yes, I’ve seen that thread but haven’t read it before today. I chose to focus on my friend and her family and wanted to stay away from speculation. Now that she’s gone, I’m just heartbroken and angry and want this story known by everyone.

I always say that if you take Xanax and drive that is inevetible that you run over, into or through something.

Even when you're trying to be careful.

One time in the 2000s, I was in the surrounding areas of lake charles. That iowa town or wherever, near that area. Was around 3pm, I was on what I guess are considered the backroads in these places and I was fricked up on xanax and ambien.

I had a 3+ hour trip ahead of me, and I knew better than to get on the interstate, or I was really going to hurt someone. That was always my biggest fear, hurting someone else. But..I was escaping a one night stand, that when I came to in the morning, I felt so out of place and around people who werent there hours before. Now these people had apparently committed a home invasion robbery on some people, and then came there..so I wanted to GTFO in case shite went down at that address..But I was still fricked up from the night before.

She had asked me earlier that morning to bring her to a store, so I used this as an out to not raise suspicions. She went in and I booked it. Was like at the end of the 1st season of eastbound and down. Anyways, upon getting out of there I wanted to pull over and sleep. But I was paranoid and wanted to get away from the area in case cops saw me leave, paranoid people came looking, etc. So I'm driving down these roads, looking in the mirrors and..boom..hit another car.

So now, in my mind I'm fricked. I'm thinking..not only now am I going to jail, I'm probably going to be in the same jail with everyone i just tried to get away from and the chick i just fricked all night and abandoned at a store. Then, in my 1000 yard stare into my dashboard, I notice the driver gets out of his car and is shitfaced drunk himself. He's asking me if I'm alright, he is telling me there is no damage (there was), and that he was wanting to replace his bumper anyways. There is no reason to get the cops involved or insurance, etc. I ended up giving him 3 blue footballs and driving to a target parking lot to sleep.

I know it's a shitty story to tell here, but even when you are trying on xanax, it's pointless. It's like russian roulette, eventually someone will get hurt. I would never drive on any mind altering substances again. Just not worth it to.

No idea but not sure the parents are to blame. Although, being a Dreamer makes his comment about not following laws interesting.

Read elsewhere that his dad has a pretty bad record himself possibly including an immigration hold after a domestic assault arrest in 2010 (not sure if deported as within 2 years had a DWI in same area).

With the kid having an arrest for breaking into a vehicle earlier this year & an arrest for marijuana possession before hitting (and killing) this girl while he was high on drugs, leaving scene, then running from police, and then making comments about only being caught because of drugs and not doing the following claw thing I can’t believe his original bond was so low letting him get out following day while this girl and her family were going through hell. Police had just ended up finding other things to re-arrest him on Friday that ended up getting a much higher bail/bond number on him before she passed away.

I don’t know family personally, but I know some people in their neighborhood and am hearing about how hard this has been felt in neighborhood much less how hard it’s been on the family (just meaning how liked & respected she & her family are across neighborhood with many families having kids that have gone to same schools since elementary school).

Understood. Sorry for your friend’s loss. Sincerely.

I don’t believe in capital punishment, but I ain’t going to be unhappy if that dude gets rocked in prison. Repeatedly.

I'm not sure I agree.

He obviously made really poor choices that day, and is super fortunate that no one was seriously injured. However, it seems as though he learned an important lesson and I bet he will never make those decisions again. I think it's okay that he shared his story.

Even if it's not drink or drug related, most people have probably made at least one stupid decision when behind the wheel of a car.

We have to learn from the mistakes of others or we are bound to repeat them. We all do stupid shite but hearing a first-hand account of the dangers can only make others think twice about being irresponsible.

He’s a citizen right? But his dad is not?

14th amendment should have been a law that sunsetted with the death of the last surviving former slave.

I hesitated to even post the “Dreamer” comment because no main stream news outlet will publish. However, an Angel Moms FB has this added with his status as “Dreamer.” I haven’t seen them do that for non-illegal immigrant crimes.

I agree. There’s only 2 ways to learn some things like this: 1) Make the mistake yourself or 2) Learn from someone else’s mistake.

I’m sure they aren’t concerned with politics right now. And I really hope this situation doesn’t become a political news story because the last thing they need right now is a media firestorm.
