I’ve ridden Marta once in the last 15 or so years and that was only because a friend didn’t want to pay airport parking before a flight. I forget it’s even a thing and I’ve lived Atlanta metro for 25 years.

A few years ago when I rode in NYC almost every time I was going into a subway. Especially in Brooklyn they had people by the handicapped doors being to be let in. The subway was about $3.
Bus even cheaper. Just pay the fee.

Giuliani's broken window campaign arrested a lot of fare beaters. If they didn't have ID they were taken in and finger printed. They caught quite a few criminals with major warrants out on them that way.

“Why doesn’t the South have more public transportation”

We've all seen how those animals operate with public transportation

Atlanta spent $130M to build glass walls Nothing alarming about this.

Just did the math.
If the average fare is $7, and we map this out over 10 yrs (3,650 days), they would have to prevent roughly $5k per day in theft, or 725 thieving passengers per day.
Is Atlanta filled with that much cultcha?

The millions were for an entire overall of the fare system across all the stations, the barriers were just a small piece of that.

Also, this lady is ramming her way out of the station, not trying to get past the fare. Look at the orientation of the turnstyles and card reader locations.

Must be nice being able to take advantage of things you don't have to pay for or pay into, destroy them, then have the people you hate the most taxed to oblivion to pay for it again.

There is a reason Fulton is shaped like a barbell, gotta tax those productives in Alpharetta to pay for shite like this.

The bitch is crazy and I'm sure money was squandered and wasted and abused, like all government money.

But the idea that $130m was spent on glass barriers is simply not true, not even close to true. And the idea this lady was busting glass to avoid a fare is also not true, she'd already paid a fare and was trying to get out of the station.

You ATL apologists are insufferable.

quote:

ATLANTA — MARTA is going to spend more than $100 million to upgrade its turnstiles. By doing so, it will help deter turnstile jumpers.

Lawrence Harper said he watches a daily parade of turnstile jumpers when he rides MARTA.

"They walk through the gates. I’ve seen old women, young kids, young women," Harper said Monday outside the Lindbergh rail station.

You live in/near a shite city, it's just different kinds of shite than any majority black city. Are the Braves in ATL? No. They're in Cobb. Atlanta is the most delusional (maybe outside of any city in LA) user base of TD that has ever existed. And no, saying you live an idyllic life in Villa Ricca, etc. does not count as you living in ATL.

You have me confused with steelerbravesdawg aka lexisdad who recently offed himself. I don't think ATL is a great city. I regularly trolled him here when he'd pump sunshine up ATL's arse, and at one point I got banned for going a little to far.

Likely true. I see UGA logos and I immediately have thoughts , as those two gentlemen have encouraged shithousery.

I wanted to love ATL when I lived there. Better than Louisiana is only a selling point so far.

And I'll say it gain, ATL is one of the worst airports in the country to have to originate from to fly.
