Getting caught with an ounce ot less is now only a $75 fine. Not legalization but it's a start

It’s crazy that you can even still get arrested for having weed

They will bust way more people for no insurance and expired warrants using this as an excuse.

Houston did this last year. Less than 4 oz and you take a drug class online or something

Officer has discretion of writing a ticket vs an arrest.

Having to take a class isn't the same thing.

I’d be shocked if NOLA took a more tolerant stance. One of the “fund raisers” for the city was finding a roach in a vehicle ashtray, or similar trace amounts, and collecting hundreds from that crap.

I mean you get a ticket and take a class online, similar to a speeding ticket. It's not that different. It's like $100 or $150 total

Sure, but it was always a moneygrab. At least you don't go to jail now. It's a start at least.

Less than an ounce is a loose term as well.

Most cops will err on the safe side...can you eyeball an ounce of weed?

Is Atlanta PD going to provide scales to all officers?

The subject will still get arrested..then the dept will waste $$ trying to figure out that it wasn't or was an ounce.

These laws are stupid.

It's what it was when they made marijuana illegal. Which in turn made hemp illegal. It was never about marijuana.

It's what it'll be to make it legal again. Oregon state tax on pot is 25%.

$75? More profit than taxation would provide

In before small government conservatives chime in with, "legalize it and tax the shite out of it"
