2016 flood was purely because of overdevelopment. Too much concrete these days
ahh, so the 20+ inches of rain was of little effect.

You just now beginning to wonder?

Just dip. What's keeping you there?

Yeah, but as others have pointed out, there are disasters everywhere. We get blizzards, ice storms, floods, and tornados.

You deal with those everywhere. It's just when they pass here, we have crisp Falls, cold Winters, gorgeous Springs, and a hot, dry Summer.

No one disagrees, but weather was just one factor of his post.

The suburbs are coming for previously rural areas too and it sucks

Still beats urban living.

Yeah I'm completely fine with some suburbs. They come in all shapes, sizes, density, quality, etc. I technically live in one now I guess but it's wonderful.

Speaking for myself, the only thing is family.

I could find work elsewhere, and eventually will, but I don't want to look back when my parents are gone and wish I'd have spent more time with them.

Having a grocery store, hardware store, etc in your neighborhood just makes life better. It just does.

For you. For others it’s living on acreage in the middle of nowhere and walking out of your door and not seeing another soul around. And for others it’s living an hour away from a hardware or grocery store in a two story house with a nice little fenced in yard.
Different strokes and all. Rather than trying to convert everyone, why don’t you just do you?

And I constantly miss my family in South Louisiana. That's the only pull back to that region.

But it still isn't enough. We just make a ton of trips down there to see them and let them see their grandkids.

You could move 2 hours away and have such a better quality of life, that's what I don't understand.

I don't want to move to, say, Denver because then you are away from family. 2 hours to make more money, have better school and roads, and less crime makes all the sense in the world to me.

again...where is this?

I'm already 2 hours away from my family as well, so another 2 hours would be 4 hours.

Think they’ll put that one in the power point presentation used by the chamber of commerce?

Anywhere in East Texas depending on what you are looking for.
