This sounds about right.
in TX it's legal for your kid to drink in your presence, and I mean you you have to stay with them if in a restaurant, aren't supposed to get up and go to the can, I let my son have a Margarita, or a beer or two, he seems fine, no addictive tendencies, won't drink and drive, complete opposite of his old man at that age

I don't think anyone at any age should be legally allowed to drink. It leads to all kinds of sinful, disgusting behaviors.

17 seems about right. I'll add that they need to decrease the penalties for MIP's as well.

Whenever they want. Govt needs to stop choosing arbitrary numbers to tell us when we can and can't do things. Burden should fall on the parents

My daughter is in college in Texas, so I experienced this first hand as well. I think it's the best rule. And bruh, you are right on with the "you've got to stay right with them" thing. Establishments have the choice to allow this or not (another great thing). Why the rest of the country doesn't follow suit on this is beyond me.

If we're talking about when the average person is more likely to consume it in a responsible manner... 25.

16 under adult supervision. 18 unsupervised

At whatever age you can be drafted into the military. If your old enough to fight and die for you country your old enough to have a drink.

guess i`m pretty much an extreme libertarian on this, if a four year old can somehow get to a convenience store to get a pack of Marlboro`s and a 6pk of natty lite and has cash..that the parents problem not the governments or the store owners problem.

Move the voting age up to 21.

Then allow anyone drafted to drink at 18, the rest still have to wait until 21.

I don't mind kids drinking with their parents, but so many of these moron kids drinking, driving, and dying.

Congrats on the dumbest thing I've read today. That's what we need, drunk 8 year olds driving because their crackhead mom is sucking dick for a fix.

Old enough to sign a contract is old enough to drink is a good argument; however, that doesn't take into account that the brain isn't finished developing at 18. It doesn't matter if your parents supervise or not, the brain isn't fully developed and can be damaged by alcoholic consumption into almost the mid-20s.
