At what age did you stop believing in Santa Claus?

A few years ago, my nephew went to a sleepover at one of his friend's house when he was like 8 I think. While he was there his friend's parents told him that Santa Claus didn't exist and that they didn't believe in lying to children. I thought it was a pretty fricked up way to find out there was no Santa Claus.

So, when did you stop believing and what made you stop?

Maybe around 8 or 9, but even at that age I had the common decency not to ruin it for others.

what a dick. That sounds like something a drunk and frustrated dad would do when he realized he didn't wanna go back to jail for hitting his wife.

I had an older brother who spilled the beans when I was about 7 or 8.

We do the Elf on the Shelf thing with our kids, but I’m not a fan of the people who make the fake security cam Santa videos for their kids (I’ve seen these on YouTube). To me, that’s a little above and beyond and runs the risk of messing up your kid to a degree with the whole “video proof” angle. Those kids are going to be in high school arguing with people that Santa is real and saying “but I’ve seen him on video!”

I told my kids that Santa Claus isn't real and that it was a pagan myth to turn kids from Christ. Instead we go to church and do a "3 wise men" thing but I usually give them cash, cologne, and Tony's seasoning instead of gold frankincense and myrrh

Yeah, that dickbag dad and I would've had some words and by words I mean I would've knocked on his door and greeted him with an arse beating. What horrible human beings.

Personally, when I was about 6 I think. Wasn't because I figured it out, but because I was a nosey fricker and was rooting around in the attic and found a bunch of bags of stuff I had asked Santa for. My Dad, to his credit, came up with a REALLY good lie, which was that there were just too many kids and the world too big a place for Santa to ACTUALLY make the trip in one night, so a while ago he started bringing toys earlier and letting parents put them out on Christmas Eve so that he could get it all done.

I thought about it, and that sounded pretty good. Ran that by my friends, who I'm sure went and asked their parents, but we all seemed to buy it. But I think that was the start of the end for me, and I'm sure by next Christmas it was all over.

There would have been an actual fist fight had some a-hole done that to my kids without my permission.

I have 2 and if, at 8 years old, someone would've told either of my girls about Santa it would've been ugly. It's not my fault you're a shitty dad.
