And the pre-med bunch thinks some rote chemistry class is hard. It isn’t like they have to develop the field of chemistry from scratch.
You know what else is funny? The post-med bunch will be really dissatisfied with their W-2 status and never ending Audi loan.

Organic is supposed to be hard. I hate to see them in Biochem if they can’t hack Organic.

Organic chemistry is designed to weed out those students who are not cut put to be in the medical field. Remember this when one of these individuals is practicing medicine.

Pathetic. When I took Organic I actually studied, went to class and took every practice test I could find. This constant caving to feelings of kids will not end well for society.

Isn't this why tenure is a thing?

chemistry class grading on a brutal curve to weed out medical students is a time-honored tradition in academia.
All majors have one of these filter classes. There was one in my undergrad degree that was notoriously difficult, to the point where the professor gave everyone numbers, not names. He didn't know your name until you passed.
We could take it twice, but if you had a C or less, you were told to change majors.
Props, Mr Fisher.

who wants a doctor who needed standards lowered to be able to pass?

NYU? Probably had a question on X and Y chromosomes and the liberals got offended and triggered by "misgendering" science.

This day and age, if you want to survive a Dr.'s visit, don't see a dr. under the age of 50.

I failed organic chemistry twice before I had to take it over the summer. Had 6 A’s and an F in organic for two semesters.
Our professor’s thought is that the class should be difficult enough to weed out those who aren’t serious about going to get a doctorate degree in a medical field

That is not even a majority.

Morrison and Boyd. Professor told the class the first day "If you are a ChemE major do not waste my time trying to talk to me." Years later he said to me his job was to weed out the students that should not be.
