2/11 or 3/11?
We've had no new residents in about a month.
No visitors since 3/11. (prior to that there were visitor screenings/designated times due to covid)
Our residents are confined to their rooms -- they come out because they're dementia patients and they're brought right back. They CANNOT be locked in their rooms.
Meals are in rooms.
Temps are every shift at a minimum
XRay techs and lab techs are having to be allowed in
Dialysis patients are having to go -- can't be done in the facility.
Our first case was tested I think 4/4 and results took 4 or 5 days. EVERY rp was notified of that positive case. EVERY rp of a resident that is tested it called to notify of testing and then to notify of result and additional measures.
This whole thing just stinks.

What region are you in? I'm in 4. I don't see myself being allowed back in for a couple of months at least.

Something seems off with the reporting.
Very recently, they were still recording only one death in Vermillion Parish, but you said a few days ago that they were two or three more deaths in the facility where you work. What do you make of that?

My bad, 3/11 is right
They are asking residents who feel sick to stay in their rooms
They gave my Grandpa a mask last week for when he walks
I don’t think they are getting everyone out of bed, otherwise they would have a bunch of hall traffic, he says there’s hardly ever anyone out when he walks, sometimes they will have a few people in the tv room but the ladies that typically roll up & down the halls are in their rooms
I’m pretty sure he’s the only one on his hall that still walks
I am curious to see what the restrictions for visitors will be once they start allowing us back in

I’m region 5.
Golfer, as much as I would like to say no new admits, there is still immediate need for many families. LDH is signing off on moves/transfers. We just called around for rapid testing for an admit happening today, none in the area. We were given the green light.

I don't see us getting admits for a while. MDS changes will keep my charting busy though. Still miss seeing my residents,

I’m in region 4. No cases at my facility. Only staff allowed in after March 11. No new admits since March 18. If a patient gets sick and needs to go to hospital for any reason, must come back and be quarantined for 14 days. We are wearing N95 masks and hospital gowns and gloves while doing therapy with patients and spraying every surface twice a day. Objectively, I don’t think we could do any more than we are already doing.

Would that it were so.
Long term care also cares for the people we grew up with who never had much of a life. Paralysis, brain damage, diseases that damaged but didn't kill.
Following my home town paper, I see my contemporaries who were victims of first trimester Rubella, of thalidomide, .....who had died in the past couple of years.
For some, I hope they never realized all they had missed. Others had lives before their disabilities.

D is coming along albeit slowly. The mcl must have been tacked extra tight — that’s been more of the problem that the acl. He’s still limping a little bit think he’s gotten to 140 degrees — PT said it’d get easier once he can sit there and just get there without working it first.
He’s down to twice a week for a few and then once. Working on some higher level stuff. But he’s been getting in and out of tractors so ...

Mostly repeating what we’ve heard of the news, but some points hit home.
Don’t expect vaccine for 12 months minimum. Suspect 3-5% population exposed, 60% needed for herd immunity according to speaker. For people like you and I, current state of operations likely extend through end of 2020.
