That’s pretty funny. Hopefully, they got that on the wedding video.

Step-baw should have kept his mouth shut, then followed dad to the bathroom later and dropped him.

Pretty tacky if he didn't pay for the wedding.

Why? He didn't say, "I hope you enjoy the food I paid for."

He just said have a good time. What's so tacky about that?

Southern Oaks Plantation

This story matches the class level of the only wedding I’ve attended at that venue. The bride was brought to the aisle in a horse-drawn metal cage to a Muzak version of Aladdin’s A Whole New World. The bride & groom were drunk screeching at each other by the end of the night.

Nothing about this suggests "fancy pants" starting with Southern Oaks Plantation.

There is enough info in the OP to probably make that happened. OT must be lazy today.

Went to a fancy pants wedding at Southern Oaks Plantation.

You can take the white trash outta the trailer park but you can’t take the tailer park out of the white trash.

I was at this wedding.

Not too long after Katrina?

EDIT - Wait...maybe a different one. The one I went to featured the bride and groom taking a "Whole New World" horse and carriage ride around the plantation after their vows. It was the most awkward wedding experience I've ever had, and I'm a ceremony musician. I've seen some weird shite at weddings.

Must’ve been the standard package in the 2000’s there. The wedding I attended was around 2002. I was a date and had never met the couple. It was so weird!! I’m glad someone else got to witness.

He probably thought it was fancy because it was his first time at a wedding where people wore coat and ties.

It's def. a middle of the pack kind of place, but I think they do a great job there and it's one of the better values in the Nola area for a reception venue.

I was talking to the owner once a few years after Katrina. He said he had some low class weddings a few times that year. One of the wedding parties had a big arse brawl and there was blood stains leftover afterwards.
It was around that time that he also started a rule that he wouldn't allow second line bands at his place.
