I just read that bitcoin is causing climate change. It was on Twitter so it must be true.

From where it is now, or just in general?

So it may be $49,999?

I admit I haven't been keeping up with this thread so this may be obvious to everyone else that's been in here.

Not really, just acting like you've been right a lot while you haven't.

So in 2014, your 3 year prediction was what? Remember, you have bitcoin related posts in 2014. How are your predictions working out?

People keep tossing out 50k, 100k, etc. The funny thing is nobody knows what market value is on them.

I may end up being dead wrong about the 100k thing, but right now it sounds like DiCaprio selling the dogshit stocks in WOWS

That's a far cry from your previous thoughts. Now you'll want to claim you were right all along if it's at $40k in 5 years.

I honestly don’t know if i made any 3 year predictions. I’m on mobile and not going look for it.

Point me in the direction of the person who saw 16k happening.

Irrelevant, that's just a strawman attempt.

what is there to support it at that value other than speculation and FOMO? once a large amount of people start dumping and the fed starts regulating the frick out of it, goodnight everyone

sure it could keep rising for who knows how long but whatever, i aint buying something that has no real value to it

i will never get paid in bitcoin
i will never pay my mortgage in bitcoin
i will never invest in stocks in bitcoin
i will never pay my credit cards off with bitcoin

Fwiw, it lost like 80% of it's peak when they were saying it was crazy. It's hard to say they were wrong.

Bitcoin and crypto in general is a mess for any savvy investor. There is no way to get a remotely accurate valuation on it. I know people who believe Bitcoin is a complete fraud, yet still own it because they believe they can make money with it until the bubble pops.

Thank you

And now I bow back out. If you think BTC is good, by all means run with it. If you think it’s bad, then stay out.

Good luck everyone

Here's what's funny. People with this mindset are correct in their concerns about the long term future. Gun to my head I would say no, I will never actually pay for something with bitcoin or get paid with bitcoin. So i get that.

But what's also 100% real and TRUE is that people have made very real american US dollars off of bitcoin. It's like the detractors have to keep repeating the same things to keep themselves grounded while watching their neighbors make more money hand over fist.

I'm of the opinion the detractors are correct, but they're early, and that's always a precarious position.

You can't store Bitcoin on flash drives. It's decentralized. The coins are in the block. I have a nano ledger that has an encrypted key. It works well.
How does that work? What is the recourse if you get hacked?

it's textbook greater fools theory, people already invested in bitcoin trying to convince other people to invest in it at a higher price through massive speculation
