Am I wrong for thinking that’s both tacky and petty as hell?

If they are in the market they may just be requesting a good source to purchase from. Vehicle listing prices are readily available online. If I wanted to guess what the purchase price of Car XYZ I can get a good guess through a simple google search.

I’m sure they were really prying on how much you paid for that new Honda

Yes it is! The OT would not believe half the stories I could tell about my wife’s fricked up dysfunctional siblings and parents. They have to be more fricked up than the average fricked up family.

And to think, you let your father in law teach your son how to ride a bike.

I don't see any problem with it as long as they are genuinely curious. Not a bad idea to know the value of things.

What’s wrong with telling them what you paid? It’s not a big deal. They could just look up an estimate anyway

I only really feel uncomfortable with questions like that if they are coming from someone who can't afford the thing that they are asking about. I've had a few people ask how much our home was, and that was a bit awkward.

If it's a buddy who is in a similar financial situation, I don't really mind, but I still don't really get that question often. We purchased a new car last year, and no one has asked us how much it costs.

No I don’t. Half the OT pays attention like drunk four year olds.

Can’t they just look up KBB and get a general idea of what you paid?

I generally agree but this is our families and the problem is if they knew, they’d tell others like gossipy 13 year old girls.

Who gives a shite who they tell? Why does that bother you. You care too much about what people think
