Thinking about switching from USAA to ASI because I can get similar coverage for flat $1,000 deductibles on both wind & hail and other perils.

I've heard decent things about ASI in the past but not many details, only that people have been just "ok" with them. Can anyone provide any insight into ASI for me? I know they're owned by Progressive now but what about claim experiences? Are they good? Do they pay claims fairly and quickly?

We had them on our previous home and didn't have any issues. We actually did have 1 claim and they were fine to deal with.

Mine is through ASI... but I haven't had to make any claims, so I don't really know what it's like at that point.

We have ASI and I’m pretty sure they’re a subsidiary of Progressive.

We haven’t had any issues but also haven’t had to make a claim.

I have a fairly good sized ASI book and my customers seem to be very happy with them..

Had them on our Baton Rouge home. Covered hail damage and a busted hot water pipe that ruined our floors. No issues with them at all.

Assuming it’s the same company; I believe it was ASI Lloyds.

Good. I'm really considering switching to them. I'd save over $800 a year for similar coverage and $1,700 lower deductibles. I'm pumped!

Have had them for 6yrs on both personal residence and rentals....it's often difficult to get someone to write rentals at a reasonable rate with $1000 flat Ded on each. Had one lightening strike on home, sent the adjuster a pic of the damaged AC unit and had a check in a week. They work with Progressive Auto and get extra discount as well. I would definately reccomend them.

ASI is about as good as any with claims. Of course you can always have that one dumbass adjuster or one problematic type claim situation but that can happen anywhere. Take the savings on this.

I have ASI, but never had to make a claim. They've been the cheapest for me last few years.

If you bundle it with Progressive auto insurance, they give a multi policy discount and have a single deductible if you have claims on both the auto and home policies from the same event. Example: $500 auto comp deductible, $1000 homeowner deductible and your car is parked in the driveway during a bad hail storm and you end up with damage to both the house and vehicle. You'd have the $1000 homeowner deductible, but the $500 comp deductible on your auto policy would be waived.

Same as Cosmo. I've had ASI for several years, but have made no claims. I like the $1000 hurricane deductible, instead of that 2% of the value of your house bullshite.

I switched my home insurance to ASI and all my cars to Geico. I saved like $900 a year on home and $170 a month on three cars.

We have ASI. They've been fantastic and have had several claims.

just switched last year to them. Saved about 900.00 a year. Renewed December 1st for the same amount as '16 rate.

We have ASI and going through our first claim with them they have been very good considering my issue (leak under foundation) may not even been covered. They paid for the company to come scope out pipes with cameras to find the leak.

No problem with them.

I have them on my personal house and 40 of my rental properties in the area.

I called when one of my rental homes flooded on Sunday at 3pm and they had a guy out Monday at 9 am during the August 2016 flood.

The adjuster was fair and basically I cannot complain.

I had a renter invite someone over that tripped on a crack in the driveway which was 1/8 of an inch higher than other slab. They paid that person and my rates have not gone up.

I got the progressive on my personal trucks, wives overpriced thing in the driveway, two boats, motorcycle, and camper.

I have written a ton of policies with ASI and no major complaints yet. I had them on my personal home at one point and had a tree fall through my garage. ASI had a claims adjuster out there ASAP and had a check in the mail very quickly.

I would advise going to an independent agency and looking at all carriers for home and auto. UPC has been very competitive and will also offer the 1,000 deductible basically north of I-10.
