This. A friend of mine from college, who I ended up working with for 17 years and spoke to everyday passed in January at 48. It messed me up more than I could imagine, and I miss that fricker everyday.
But yes, the rest of them mostly suck…

Nope.
As i get older, fewer things irritate me.
Still love my friends.

As I got older, I have less friends and more acquaintances.

Not necessarily, but I'm less inclined to deal with their drama and gossiping. I don't care about who is fricking whomever, or who got fired for whatever reason. When that starts, I just stop coming around.

Y’all have friends?
I had five good friends. Three I went to high school with. One was in the Air Force with me and the other I met through a mutual friend. One lives in a different state, two are dead and the other two tried to hook up with my wife when I worked nights. So, no friends for me either.

Friends no - but general Humanity, absolutely - especially at airports

Nah. It's the exact opposite for me. The older I get the more I appreciate the differences in them. Of course if they were to talk about me and I were to find out, I'd be pissed. Otherwise I try to take people for what they are and enjoy their quirkiness. And if they're straight up bitches, they're not my friends.

I am 52, and find I am turning into my dad before he died…. Grumpy and irritated at everything
Why do you think that is?
When I find myself getting grumpy I generally find it's that I'm either tired or in some sort of pain.

Members of my friend group are not irritating. That said, the number of people in my group has dwindled to a strong, solid core.
Time, circumstances and either my willingness or that of the other party was lacking a desire to continue investing in the relationship. Some of the folks were really good people, but for whatever reason the friendship became distant.

I don’t know, honestly…..I hate how I react to things sometimes, and I catch myself from time to time from reacting in a negative way, so I am aware of it……it’s something I am working on because I certainly hate it when it shows up……

My best friends, I only see a couple of times a year. We've settled in different areas and I don't have time to meet other people. Between work and raising a family, I have other priorities than hanging out. It's good though, because they are always there if needed but we don't have to get together often to remind ourselves that we are friends.

No, just one. The rest I wish I could spend more time with.

I don't have any friends, and deservedly so.

I'm 67 and been winding down my friendships for at least 20 years. I was in the retail business and met a lot of good people and if they haven't died, I see them from time to time and enjoy their company on a limited basis. Used to be active in civic and non-civic activities but have dropped all of them. Now I only hang out with friends that golf, hunt or fish or relatives and of course my dog, Super Max. I'm not trying to be Mr. Facebook with a gazillion friends. And the friends that are on Facebook, I despise. And they probably feel the same about me.

I turn 50 next year. I have kids ages 12 and 9. I find that with as busy as life stays between work, school, and my kids sports/activities I prioritize my time with people. It's not that I'm irritated with people, I just choose to keep the "extra" stuff at arms length. Both of my kids play travel/select sports (baseball and volleyball). We have been lucky with both to have a few couples in that world that are solid people.

As I've gotten older I've noticed I have fewer friends, but closer friends. The cream rises.
