As of today, the Berlin Wall has been down longer than it was up.

Damn, hard to believe.
Most shocking event to that point of my life was the collapse of the iron curtain

That is awesome and crazy that it's already been that long.

Well, I officially feel old now. Happy birthday to me. And Elvis. And David Bowie.

Thanks for making me feel old a-hole.

My dad had an old shortwave radio I used to mess with when I was a kid. I'm talking vacuum tube old, but the bastard still worked. I remember listening to the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation you perverts) late one night when the first reports of protesters tearing the wall down came through. Interesting times.

I grew up in the cold war, the wall coming down seemed impossible, til it did

My older brother "R.I.P" was stationed in Frankfurt Germany back in the day. He and my younger brother went to see Roger Waters perform at the "Wall." My Mother has some small framed pic's of them standing in a hole in the wall, one foot on East and the other on the West along with a few large chunks of the wall. I truly regret not taking that trip....married w/one child, no fun for the bread winner.
btw they went to Amsterdam as well. My little brother 19 - 20 at the time embarrassed Coon Asses for a lifetime there.

Just got back from Berlin Saturday. A lot of history there.

Pretty nuts to think that the Brandenburg Gate used to look like this.
What a sad picture.

You ever get a piece from her?

Hard to believe it’s been that long ago. I was stationed in Germany for the last couple of years of the Cold War. Of course I was down in Southern West Germany in a little placed called Fulda and nowhere near Berlin.

You didn't have to listen to it on shortwave, it was covered by live tv.
