I imagine many of the OT corporate superstars wouldn’t be where they are if they if they didn’t start in an office full of managers and VPs to learn from at the beginning of their careers

This isn’t debatable, but if you can’t accomplish that in 24-32 in office hours, that’s on you. The tangible benefit of no commutes and such is a worthwhile trade off

I work for a company that is totally remote. I couldn’t RTO even if I wanted to do so.

Was in same boat until last year, now my current role is hybrid.

This is what happened with Amazon when they enforced 3-day RTO. It's less about collaboration and more about getting rid of bloat without having to pay severance. Non-compliance is also seen as voluntary resignation.

That’s basically us in a nutshell, but we’re also only doing two-day RTO.

We don’t even have a physical address where anyone works. Our company split off from another 18 months ago.

I'm in transportation and do a lot of computer work/emails. I don't personally think I am productive more at the office vs at home.

I would honestly say I work a little harder at the house because if I don't go to the office I want them to see I'm actually doing shite.

I think a lot of it comes down to the worker as well. I know I have a job to do, so I do it. I wasn't sitting at the house in my cheetah skins all day watching TV, but I understand why a lot of employers might think that about their employees.

The AP supervisor has 3 massive dogs, 2 jobs and plays pickleball and "works from home" like 3 days a week. I never see her online when she's not here at the office, but ap work keeps getting done so she must be doing something, or her 2 workers are doing all the work

If they were working hybrid 3/2 schedule, why wasn’t the desk issue a problem before?

I can only speculate that it was a rotating 3/2. Meaning they didn’t have 100% of employees in person on any given day.

These hot takes are music to my ears.

One of the lessons I teach my kids is comparing life to their video games. You want your player to upgrade, excel, get a new weapon, new armor, etc. Why? The point of the game is to out achieve whomever you’re playing against, the other players.

In life you have similarities. While your crying and then passing your pussification on to your kids, mine will understands hard work, sacrifice, and reward.

Good luck.

ETA: I forgot that asking a question on the OT results in downvotes.
No that’s being an idiot

When you do 3/2, you stagger the days the employees come in so you need far less office space

It’s not standard that a bank won’t talk to a borrower about the borrower’s loan. That’s absurd.

One of the biggest problems facing JPMorgan Chase staffers, though, is the lack of desks.

Sounds like they have too many workers.

Layoffs incoming.

There are certain positions in which it makes sense to be in office.

Finance sector is not one of them.

AI will eliminate most of those jobs within a decade. Might as well start thinning the herd now.

Its so easy to know who is vs isn’t in “finance”

AI isn’t going to take over. “Finance” isn’t just adding and subtracting numbers. The human element is MASSIVE
