0.0%

She buys what she wants during the year and I do likewise. Within reason. We usually get money from my mother and MIL. That lasts a long time for discretionary purchases.

Not sure. I'll have to ask her.

I'm pretty sure she treated herself quite well this year.

Is it weird that me and my wife don't give each other gifts?

Neither of us gives a crap and just get what we want through the year. Christmas presents are for kids.

I don't buy adults Christmas gifts except a few treats for the grandparents.

We've always just bought each other a $100-150 gift for the kids to "give" to us. They are old enough where they don't care now, but we still do it. I usually get something like a new wallet or pocket knife.

There is no income level where 2% is acceptable. None.

We have mutually decided to not get each other anything major.

I'd just want clothes I don't need and she'd want jewelry or something she didn't need.

Filling each others stockings along with the kids and just playing Santa

I normally excuse whatever gun, toy, or gadget I paid too much for in October or November by telling her to just consider it my Christmas present.

More time with the kids is not a gift. At least not to me.

A babysitter and a planned evening out is, however.

I tell my husband to not get anything. I don’t like making up something to spend money on when I know there will be something i want during the year at a time other than Christmas

However, last year I really really wanted a cordless vacuum and knew there would be Christmas sales, so I researched those then purchased a GREAT one. Told him it was my Christmas present from him. It was 500 dollars, and I LOVE it!

Agreed. No need to spend more money when you’re already spending it playing Santa.

Damn, just found out my wife posts here.

That's exactly what she did last year down to the dollar amount.
