III. Cheerleading isn't a real sport, it's a booster activity/popularity contest. They should stop taking it so fricking seriously.

You do not get to make this decision.

said, this technique is stupid. He wants them to do splits either require it at tryouts or incorporate lengthy stretching exercises into practice until they get it.
that is probably all correct.

Him being incompetent or misguided makes him like about 39% of youth activity coaches. I don't think he deserves a lynching over being stupid.

I thought this would be about him being a pervert when I saw the thread title.

Maybe not, but I think he deserves to be fired for being a dumbass.

Well, you could start with posting some video or some kind of proof.

ok. If every athlete stopped when their bodies asked them to the world would be kinda meh.

But again, he employed a dumb method to try to get cheerleaders to do a cheerleader thing. The thread is "what would you do as a parent", I don't know. If he was a good dude that did a stupid thing I would ask him about it. If he was an a-hole about everything and my daughter was miserable she and I could assess if she wanted to continue

I mean it isn't. Cheerleading isn't overseen by any of the athletic associations. If you look at the LHSAA "spirit" is in its own section. That means that the safety standards and training required from other coaches don't apply. As a result, cheerleaders suffer injuries at a far greater rate than any other athletic activity for girls.

This doesn't change because a bunch of companies make $$$$ off this shite at the expense of young girls' health.

Maybe I got that from the movie Bloodsport, where they tied JCVD to a tree and forced his legs apart. He screamed the whole time..

Not the whole time. Frank Dux was a badass

maybe so. He may also have 100s of girls and parents come forward with stories of him being a great role model and effective coach.

Given that he repeated a behavior that hit him terminated prior makes me think he is a retard

I think there is a difference with doing a split though. If my body isn't in a condition to go straight into a split, maybe I'd ease into it with gradual stretching exercises.

I just want to point out. What if the races were reversed in this video. We would have heard about it back in June.

Collegiate cheerleading accounted for 70.5% of all female catastrophic sports injuries and high school cheerleading for 65.2% of all high school female catastrophic sports injuries. Without a doubt, cheerleading is the most dangerous female sport when we look at the number of catastrophic injuries.

How were they cheerleaders if they couldn't do the splits?

Apparently now you need to be a 4'9 gymnast to be a cheerleader.

Wonder if Sela Ward could do splits?

He hurt someone I loved. I would quietly explain to him the benefits of permanently quitting as a cheerleaders coach, by the end of the day. Bad things could so easily happen to him and those he loves.

It would really be a shame.

I would be calling my lawyer. The coach, the school, and the school board would be getting sued.

It was literally tearing her ligaments. I was just asking one of my PT friends about this after seeing the story, and they were like yeah, if your muscles and ligaments aren't slowly adapted over time and are forced into a position, they can rip. Not sure how that makes this girl a pu**y.

This. I'm not sure if one can just do the splits in one day. Kind of like bench pressing a heavy amount of weight. It doesn't happen over night.

Sadly, I wouldn't expect someone like "Ozell" to realize this.
