Will be ruined by the major influx just like Austin and Nashville

Austin is not what it was 20 years ago. Overcrowded and expensive, but I’d live in Austin over Baton f’ing Rouge or New Orleans in a heartbeat.

Not a positive for Uncle SCar.

Soon the transplants will insist on everyone referring to their new State as The South Carolina.

I never understood, if the red states are so bad like the media and celebrities say, why is everyone fleeing blue states to come here?

Damn. I didn't realize that South Carolina only had 5.4M people. DFW alone is 7.6M.

Transplants moving to Greenville left and right. The infrastructure of the city was not built to support all the traffic and plumbing needs

See when I say I want Louisiana to improve I mean for a strong economy therefore cutting off the brain drain and bringing transplants in but mainly transplants that left a bad Louisiana and are returning to a good Louisiana.

I’ll die on this hill. All things equal, very few people would leave Louisiana in favor of nearby states like Tx. People would opt to stay where their family is and where their culture is.

Sure. Whatever helps you sleep at night. They said the same about the Tx transplants. The numbers say otherwise

No one really plans for long-term growth very well, and surely no one likes a bunch of goddamn Yankees.

My daughter's friend in NC complained that "she didn't want a bunch of damn Yankees moving and screwing up a good thing." My daughter reminded her that she was from NJ.

Sometimes those who have direct experience with bad policies are the most vigilant to not let it happen again.

I think Texas is a combination of transplants and immigration. Even if illegals can't vote, their kids can when they are of age if they are born here. Hispanics still vote blue by a fairly wide margin.

In 1996, Bob Dole got less than 50% of the vote in SC. Trump got over 55% a quarter century later. We used to have multiple Democratic congressmen in DC. Now we only have one. We have zero statewide elected Dems and both houses of our General Assembly are overwhelmingly Republican. You have ZERO clue about this state's politics. And this state isn't Texas. We're not being invaded by Californians and Hispanics. Our transplants are largely Trump voters from the Rust Belt who are coming here to escape liberal politics.

Yup. Our main problem is northeasterners and their kids who come down for school. The rust belters are moving in in droves. We actually get a lot of people moving in from Atlanta and Florida escaping all the northeast snowbirds too.

Do get a lot of Washingtonians because of Boeing. Hopefully we don’t see an influx of Californians with the huge Google thing coming in.

Someone is eventually going to revamp the Corridor of Shame and hopefully get rid of the problem demographics in it.

The counties with the greatest growth are all conservative strongholds, save for Charleston. Horry, Georgetown, Beaufort, Lexington and the Upstate counties are all extremely Republican areas that skew heavy for Trump. And they are much more Republican now than they were 25 years ago. The only area that growth has turned more left is Charleston County and that's because the demographics of the transplants there are young folks and college kids.

Moved to The Upstate about 3 years ago (1 hr from Greenville). We like it. Schools suck. Lots of Clemson orange.

Almost nobody from our neighborhood is from The South, much less, SC. Most are from MD, PA, OH & MI.

There are jobs everywhere. Last chamber meeting I went to, companies had 40-50 open positions, one company had 80.

We are 7 miles from the NC border as the crow flies and drive into TR or Greenville pretty much every day. It’s a breeze. I just avoid the obvious traffic areas when possible. People here are the worst drivers I’ve ever seen though.
