This area has been ruined. The natives are moving away from the coast and into the Pee Dee areas to get away from the Yankees coming down here.

Agreed, not sure why people in this thread act like what is in OP is good. “Thriving” isn’t always the correct word and “huge growth” isn’t always a positive. When Californians and yankees are taking over your towns, it’s never a good thing

No one really plans for long-term growth very well, and surely no one likes a bunch of goddamn Yankees.

They’re flocking there in droves just like Texas to ruin it just like they ruined NY and CA.

SC will be blue in 24. Just watch

I live in upstate SC. Lots of cities have had Republican mayors around here for the last 20+ years. Makes a huge difference. Democrats just destroy everything, it’s a virus.

About 15-20% of South Carolinians are actually Ohioans

They even have their own stickers.

Nah, maybe in 20 years. It takes longer than 4 years to flip a 10-15% margin. I think Texas will go blue before South Carolina.

You can thank Myrtle Beach for Ohioans to be attracted to South Carolina.

They're all over Hilton Head and Mt. Pleasant as well. It's not just Myrtle Beach. We have more West Virginians here than anywhere else

It is not a good thing. Transplants moving to Greenville left and right. The infrastructure of the city was not built to support all the traffic and plumbing needs. Augusta/Faris road becoming single lane to help the residential areas has only exacerbated the issue on that side of town, plus Woodruff road..no explanation needed. And the Reedy River will be perpetually contaminated with fecal matter indefinitely with the major costs to revamp the system.

I don't blame people for wanting to come but enough is enough.

Our transplants are largely conservatives. The coastal counties of SC (sans Charleston) are very conservative, as is the Upstate. We don't have a Statewide elected official who's a Democrat and only 1 of our 9 Congressmen and Senators is a Democrat.

According to data, South Carolina has the most mobile homes per capita than any other state. 12.8 percent of homes in Augusta, Georgia, located close to the South Carolina border, are also mobile homes.

I haven't traveled SC extensively but I'm sure it's like just about all other Southern states in that regard. Get out of the larger cities and suburbs and it's rural and poor to lower middle class.

Anecdotal but most people I see moving to SC are the country club, 30A type of people. Definitely lean more conservative
