Concerning medical errors being the third leading cause of death in the US and the linked focused on UTIs and surgical site infections. There is no mention how many comorbidities a patient may have that also have lead to their death. Relatively healthy patients do not die from UTIs and are unlikely to get surgical site infections. Preventable things like morbid obesity, uncontrolled diabetes, and smoking are more likely to get these types of complications and also to die from them. However, the finger will get pointed at healthcare because no one wants to take any responsibility for their own healthcare outcomes. Sign of the times I guess with the attitude of this society that it's always someone else's fault/responsibility for an individual's well being and never their own. It's easier to go ahead and eat that donut, sit on the couch all day, and light one up on your way to pick up some Burger King for lunch. Someone else will take care of you and if you do poorly it will be their fault.

Edit to add that leapfrog website you linked has the hospitals with the worst reputations in my area scoring A's and the two better hospitals scoring C's. I work at all of them so I could care less which hospital gets what score but it just proves to me that those scores mean.

Heck, the guy doing what he did to that point was already more brave than most people would have done.

I'm not so sure I would want this guy to be my Dr. That intervention was one of the dumbest things I've seen. There's courage and there's stupid.

That video needs to be a training video lesson on what NOT to do when you see shite like that going down.

Stupid reasoning and I would ask for help from others to choose your Dr's.

That was hyperbole to make point, ya Goober. I'm sure he'll be a fine Dr. But God dammit that was hard to watch. He should have never gotten out his car.
1. Call 911
2. Follow the vehicle.

I mean, That's just common sense.

Sometimes you react because it's the right thing to do. Who knows if the girl lasts the ride. I would hope if that was my daughter someone was there for her.

True story:

1st wife and I coming home to our apt and a girl comes running to front of our car in parking area. Guy comes and grabs her pulling her towards an apt. Without thinking I jumped out and ran after them. They got into the apt and closed the door. I pounded on the door letting the guy and girl know I was there and not leaving.

Pay phone was on corner near the apt and called 911 and waited yelling out and pounding on the door. Police arrived and was sent home. Not sure what happened, but I reacted and yes could have ended up shot if he had a gun.

Sometimes adrenaline kicks in to help as mine went from nothing to hyped instantly, but I'm no Dr.

Ur-ick, get over here mayne.

Why oh why do parents do this to their children?

LINK

Yes, it's wrong to show bias against a name but if you know what it does to a kids chances of getting a job why do it?

Haha touche. But I have been involved four armed robberies. So maybe I am a little more careful and aware than a med student.

Awesome. I was enraged after watching this video. This guy deserves to die.

I really hope they can get him on 1st degree..

You do realize NOPD has been taking a ton of heat recently for terrible response times?

If he did this cops get there maybe within an hour or two and the girl has long since been kidnapped and likely killed.

How could a jury not convict? What defense would he have?

So someone doesn't have to die to have a first degree murder charge? Serious question I'm not a lawyer.
