You could call it a mass shooting if it actually was one.

The Titusville Police Department said in a news release the man was involved in a fistfight with another person at the Issac Campbell Park and left around 5:20 p.m. -- only to return with a gun minutes later and start shooting.

Sounds like he was shooting at a specific person.

Y’all are the same people who complain about a suicide on school grounds being labeled a school shooting.

I wonder if the “bystander” was open carrying, or did he have a conceal carry permit?

Well...

He started shooting in a park filled with over 100 people. Stands to reason it would have been a mass shooting if the bystander didn't stop him. Bunny Friend Park shooting comes to mind. The fact that he failed doesn't preclude us from calling it what it was I don't think. I guess "Attempted Mass Shooting" would be better?

Bunny Friend shooting, very similar

Listen to the audio of the shooting from the video and tell me it wasn't about to be a mass shooting. FWIW, I would agree with you if these idiots ever just walked up and popped a cap right into the guy they were trying to shoot but they always stand thirty feet away and just start blasting.

That doesn’t mean he wouldn’t have injured or killed more people.

Maybe he would have only shot the one person he was after. Maybe he would have hit a few children with stray bullets. Maybe he would have shot anyone trying to stop him. The good news is we didn’t have to wait to find out.

I just think saying mass shooting for this is just as fake news as that list of 2018 school shootings that was trying to make it into a bigger issue than it is.

It’s an a-hole getting what he deserves after going to grab a gun after an argument. He endangered a lot of innocent lives with what he did, but saying “mass shooting” is a specific term to act like this bystander prevented columbine.

I agree. That doesn’t make it a mass shooting.

This is Fox News being just as fake news as CNN, but no one can admit it.

Edit: not Fox News, OP is the one who said mass shooting.

I like to hear stories like this. There is a part of me, that has a sick fantasy of wanting to kill someone who is about to do harm to either me or other people..

With that said, I still don't think it's a good idea for EVERYONE to be able to carry guns around. Just for the fact that, there are people I know, who I would be scared to be around them if they carried a gun on them. People who get bent out of shape easy and if they had a gun on them, there is a good chance them son of a bitches would reach for it and end up doing something stupid, our of pure emotions.

I agree with all of this, just wondering what the intent of the shooter was.

I know the definition of mass shooting is political, and the intent of the shooter isn't always clear, but hitting an innocent bystander and targeting innocent bystanders are two different things.

Well, it isn’t a mass shooting because it was stopped.

Had this bystander not been there and this guy shot 2 or 3 people accidentally and CNN labeled it a mass shooting, you’d be flipping the frick out.

Yeah, from Fox News, which will be dismissed by everyone left of center as "fake" even though 99% of fake news comes from the left.

I'm in agreement here. This sounds like a revenge shooting that was taking place in a crowded area.

Nah fk the narrative. Take our guns...

Also ignore the fact that a substantial amount of people will be able to print guns at home in the next decade regardless of what the laws are.

Let's just ignore that little tidbit too, shall we?

Sounds like the gunman was doing a “spray and pray” and damn whoever was unlucky enough to be in the way. Listen to how fast those rounds were being cooked off. Maybe the first shot was actually aimed. But everything after shot #1 was certainly not actual aimed shots. It’s a miracle there wasn’t a bunch of people killed.
