The irony here is THICK.

I am all about evidence based medicine. FDA approval is not the end all. There are a number of meds used by physicians that are not FDA approved ( off label use) but are deemed to be standard of care. One example is azathioprine use in IBD. I have looked into Ivermectin but am not sure about risk:benefit.

From Feb 2021 "There is insufficient evidence for the COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines Panel (the Panel) to recommend either for or against the use of ivermectin for the treatment of COVID-19. Results from adequately powered, well-designed, and well-conducted clinical trials are needed to provide more specific, evidence-based guidance on the role of ivermectin in the treatment of COVID-19."

So a rooty post justice of peace is questioning a medical doctor... and the skank feels qualified to do so

If you're positive and "at risk", you're currently eligible for monoclonal antibodies. That's been shown to be by far the best treatment and hospitals are using it as a primary treatment now for patients that aren't in severe condition.

eta: For patients that are in severe conditions and in the ICU, I can see them getting Ivermectin as a throw everything at the problem and hope it works method.

The LDH sent out an email this morning stating “Louisiana Health Alert Network (LA HAN)--Do Not Use Ivermectin to Treat or Prevent COVID-19”

Basically the evidence Ivermectin works is inconclusive at best. I hope they keep doing studies on it to get an answer either way. Monoclonal antibody treatment however has proven to be very effective.
