Can you use deadly force to stop a felony/act posing grave harm to another (ie, rape here) when it is statutory rape if the groomed girl was doing along with it willingly (or as willing as is possible for a minor who can't consent)?
In Arkansas - yes.

You can use deadly force to protect others under the same threat(s) as yourself. What I'm saying is it doesn't have to be an act upon you.

I think what Lonoke did here was book him on the murder because he chased him. So yeah, a bit of CYA but at the same time that can be argued that he initiated the confrontation. The lawyers and jury will have to sort that one. Arkansas does allow for exceptions (chasing him) but he'll have to justify it.

Still over charging if you ask me, there was a struggle for a weapon. The presence of the weapon, in Arkansas, isn't necessarily premeditation.

All that without even considering pending charges, minor, blood kin, etc. That will indeed change things.

From the GoFundMe: I’m raising funds to pay for legal fees for my husband for the murder charge he is facing after saving our child from a predator. In the summer of 2024, our child was groomed and raped by a 67-year-old friend of a family friend. He was charged but released on $50k bail and is awaiting court in December. At 1 a.m. on Tuesday morning, we were awoken by our daughter’s dog barking. We checked on her and found that she was not in her bed. Frantically, we called friends, family, and 911. My husband went blindly searching for our 14-year-old. By the grace of God, he passed the predator's vehicle on the road and followed them, trying to get him to pull over with our child. Instead, the predator ran with our minor child. My husband was able to catch up to him and retrieve our child. In the process, he was attacked and did what he needed to protect himself and our daughter. My husband is a combat veteran who has always protected his family and country. And today, he is our hero. Now we need help to fight these outrageous charges. Please consider momentary donations if possible, but we will also take calls and letters to Lonoke County prosecutors reminding them that they work for the people, and any and all prayers. We are generally private people, have not had much sleep, but the support has been overwhelming, and we appreciate everyone sharing our story so the truth gets out there.
If all this is true, I hope she gets enough for the best defense possible with plenty left over as a windfall following the dismissal of charges.

There were no Marshals involved. The escorts were EBR Sheriff's Office Deputies. (Barnett and Conors.)

The way this should work, assuming it went down as we all suspect, i
The best way for this to go (now that he was charged) is that it gets run past a Grand Jury who all vote No True Bill and all future prosecution is permanently ended. While unpleasant during the initial process, this would be a great answer for him in the long run.

Yup, that’s exactly how it happened. Case closed, nothing else to see here

I was born in Lonoke county. Cabot to be exact, dad ran a fish farm out in Hickory Plains.

This guy won’t be convicted if that area is still like it used to be

That's what I was getting at. Like was she forcefully taken or abducted or did she go voluntarily. But agreed she's 14 so it's irrelevant.

It said she was groomed. These predators know how to manipulate and control these children, you cannot fault the child

"Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. If anyone causes one of these little ones, those who believe in me to stumble. It would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea."

Considering this wasn’t the first time the daughter was violated, I’m thinking the parenting is a slight issue as well.
Before you all lose your minds, I’m very much ok with this groomer being killed and the dad walking away a free man.

What agency would hold this guy on any crime, let alone first degree murder. He’s not getting a guilty vote from me. I’d give him money for being wrongfully charged a crime.

I’ve been to lonoke several times. Very good people. He will be found not guilty, and would win the election for mayor if he wanted.

Are we saying there were 2 separate predators, since the 67 yr old is staill awaiting his court date?

And if so, WTF? Is this 14 yr old daughter off the rails? Are the parents clueless?
