What about when the woman drove into oncoming traffic, narrowly avoiding a head-on collision by forcing another vehicle off the road?

frick that and frick your bootlicking attitude. Get these pigs off the street - it’s all just revenue generation.

What delay? I dunno where I stand on overall scenario yet but the cop didn’t stop grandma from carrying the dog to the vet. She went to the door (maybe they were closed), came back to watch the show, then sat in drivers seat. None of this was cop triggered. And if the dog was that close to death it’s doubtful it could have been saved. Most (probably pretty much all outside of vet schools) vets aren’t prepared to crash to emergency trauma surgery, especially with as rural as this place looked.

Geez I have children and dogs. Ya’ll are all bad in this thread. Cops have a really difficult job, but come on. If any of my pups go into a life or death emergency or any of my children go into a life or death emergency I’m going as fast as I can to get help. And also if anything happened to the boys and girl or the pups the reciprocal pain would be tough to navigate.

This makes me sad
Dogs > people

Cop did nothing wrong here. Lady ran a red light and swerved into oncoming traffic running another vehicle off the road. Cop didn’t stop grandma from taking the dog into the vets office.

I’m a dog lover but having a sick pet doesn’t allow you to break traffic laws.

Same should be true for police dogs. Right?

Depends on the human.

Putting your flashers on and ignoring all traffic laws because your dog is sick doesn't exempt you.
If your dog is potentially dying on the way to the vet, you’re going to follow all the rules of the road trying to get there in time? I didn’t think so.

Bad cops contributing to the death of dogs?
In memory of CptBengal, I bet?

Sad situation. Like most of these stories, both sides could have done things different.
I’ve made a similar drive with a dog. I stopped for every light because, in my mind, I knew the traffic light was a shorter delay than being pulled over.
I agree with the previous poster though, if the dog was that close to death, getting to the vet was unlikely going to save him. Doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try, but the death isn’t all on the cop.

Lot of crazy people in this thread. Trying to get your dog help as soon as possible is fine as long as you’re not endangering others. What if she had decided to ride on the sidewalk around a school bus and hit a kid? Still ok since she’s just trying to save her dog?

She didn’t do that did she clown?

She put human lives in danger for a dog
I’m sorry her dog died but running red lights at high speeds is too dangerous for a dog

I question whether the vet office was even open. Not a car in the parking lot, looked closed.

Pull over, quickly tell the cop the situation and all is probably ok.
