PHOENIX — An Arizona news anchor defended her pronunciation of Spanish words during English broadcasts, saying she delivers them the way the language is intended to be spoken.
In a broadcast on Monday, Vanessa Ruiz, who works for 12 News here, waded into the running debate over the use of Spanish that has divided Americans in different ways for years, and has been percolating on the campaign trail.
Ms. Ruiz, who was raised in a bilingual household, said some viewers had questioned her way of pronouncing Spanish words. Sandra Kotzambasis, the station’s news director, said viewers were asking why Ms. Ruiz “rolled her Rs.”

She already has the V, I'll supply the D.
That's a yes vote.

You haven't seen/heard anybody complain about "press 2 for Spanish"?

I've always thought the bilingual ATM deal was pretty silly, cause they're pretty damn indistinguishably easy to figure out in English or Spanish. Same way I've wondered why my underwear need to be labeled cotton/coton (is that extra t really throwing off our French Canadian friends?)

I was talking to a couple at my house today, and they both referred to El Paso as just Paso

I shouldn't have to press 1 for English just to watch the fricking news.

So what if she rolls her Rs. What kind of jackass has a problem with this? People need to worry more about their own business

If it's a Spanish word, then it should be pronounced correctly.
I worked with a lady who wouldn't pronounce Hispanic kids' names the way they asked.
One specific case was a kid named Angel. Pronounced Ahn-Hell. She told him, "We aren't in Mexico, and we pronounce it Ain-Gel here."
I understand having political stances against immigration, but being a dick about language differences is just moronic.

Nope, WNHI. Boobs are too big, hair is too brown and waist too small.
