You understand what you are endorsing is moral relativism, correct?

I’d love to hear you explain to me why you think that.

Of course, you just want to excuse your forefathers by pretending that abolition was some niche movement. By the standards of their own time, they would be regarded as morally corrupt. Of course, you wouldn't know that. What you want is to conflate things for the ease of your own conscience, I guess.

I haven’t made an excuse or justification for anyone. And I’m not sure what this has to do with my conscience

I support the CSA? You have issues bro. This is not the 19th century. Move on f*g.

Because universal truths are either ahistorical and noncontingent or they are not universal truths. The position you are taking is what is called Metaethical Moral Relativism, which suggests the truth or falsity of moral judgements and/or their justifications is relative to the traditions, convictions, or practices of a group of people.

What? You mentioned that modern slaves are making things that the OP uses as though that discounted the public feeling about slavery in the US at the time of the CW. Not only is that an intensely stupid rebuttal, you provide the justification later (which I knew you would, since you guys have like one argument) when you say that we shouldn't judge people by the moral standards of today. But again, by the standards of people living in America well before the CW, slavery was abhorrent. Given that, and that we now all agree that slavery is abhorrent, that should complete an conditional that I'm not sure that you have the ability to complete.

Bitch, don't respond to my claim about immediate post-CW violence in the South then. You fricking idiot. Learn to follow an argument.

Let me repeat. My claim, as in the words I used, made a direct reference to the time period I was referring to. You, being a massive retard, took this to mean that I was inculcating people in the modern South, which is a claim I decidedly did not make. Learn to read closer before you respond, retard.

Knute Rockne and Vince Lombardi had not been born yet, your list is suspect.

How did you get the above from this statement?

Attempting to use the lens of today to judge the actions of the past in a vacuum is about the stupidest exercise you can engage in

Correct

You made this part up in your head, assigned motive to me based on your made up errant assumption, and then attacked me based on that assumed motive.

You probably need to take some deep breathes and reevaluate your mental state and daily interactions. I bet you find yourself angry a lot around people who don’t understand why you’re angry

You are very bad at this. It’s fun though to watch you get triggered by the 19th century.

You don't see how this is relativistic? Are you serious?

Answer this question. Were there people who believed slavery was an abhorrent, immoral practice in 1860?

You brought up an insane non-sequitur and then used it to try to wash away the fact that CSA fought explicitly, in their own words, to preserve the institution of slavery by suggesting we shouldn't judge them using today's moral logic. Yet you can't seem to grasp that by the moral logic then, it was found abhorrent.

I brought up a factual nonsequitor. You have not stopped making up all kinds of insane arguments since then. I think you might want to consider some mental health counseling and therapy.

You are endorsing meta-ethical moral relativism. Universal truths have to be ahistorical. Do you understand why?

yea

Finish the conditional then.

A non-sequitur with the intent to illustrate what point specifically?

You have not stopped making up all kinds of insane arguments since then.
