Yeah but you save tons from not needing to go to therapy.
Never been and don't need to. Wife and I were talking and it came up and she asked me if I knew why and I said I didn't. That got me to thinking about it and I kinda want to know.

I think I'd off myself if I ever had to deal with a "step dad"

I call mine dad. He raised me since I was 3 and I don't remember life without him and my Mom together.

You really don't know why your parents are divorced at age 36?
You should be able to ask both of them easily since they are your parents. they are supposed to be the most approachable persons for you.

I hope you thanked him for doing that.

Your parents are divorced because you touch yourself at night.

Pop played too much golf and just sat on his arse reading books when he was home, leaving my mother to take care of practically everything. There is no animosity and they are still friends, even hang out sometimes.

Yes but I've come to accept that I'll never know the answer. They're both happily remarried and have been for about 20 years. Not exactly a subject I'm eager to bring up with them.

Read my previous post. My father was/is one of the biggest POS that has walked this earth. My step dad, God rest his soul, was one of the greatest men that has walked this earth. I owe him for more than I know. He is why I am such a good dad to my little girl and why I have a great work ethic and why I grew up learning so much. I thank God everyday that I had the privilege of being raised by such a good man.
So, you're an idiot if you think it's automatically a bad thing

My parents will celebrate 32 years of marriage in August.

Kids of long marriages are no more loved than kids of divorce.
Length of marriage does not equal a happy marriage. Isn't it better to have two good marriages, than a long unhappy one?
People live longer. People change. It is often not realistic to expect the norm for people to stay together 50 years. And if they do, it might be a counting contest not a loving relationship. But then again, some are.

Yes. Parents got divorced less than 9 months before my half-brother was born. I connected the dots around the age of 13.

Yes parents divorced when I was five
Mother was only 25, dad was 29
All I remember from that time is them fighting all the time.
My mother got married way too young and it blew up.
Worked out in the end, was raised by my dad
