We have pex for the majority of the house but the exterior bibs are copper and those must be wrapped along with the main line coming into the manifold. I could shut off the water to all exterior faucets but still would have to wrap the main line.

Nahh, and I have dex-cool in the truck, using the block heater isnt a requirement, just makes my morning easier.

dripping my faucet...there is one spot by the tankless water heater that could freeze up (and did a couple of years back)

Is your tankless in the garage? Are you able to protect that area and not have to worry about dripping water?

If its exposed pipe then strap a hand warmer to it and it should keep it warm enough to prevent freezing.

Exposed outdoor pipes are very rare in colder climates. Everyrhing is usually contained in a basement here.

Hmmm, I’m confused.
Many years ago in a previous life my pipe started dripping a couple days later. I was told it was because I didn’t wrap it.
