That's great. I've learned it's very difficult to find a hotel with rooms available directly in the path of the total eclipse.

It's likely we will have to find a hotel a couple of hours' drive away from the total path and just drive to a good place to view it on the morning of the eclipse.

Yeah, I'm thinking strongly about it. My sister lives in Nashville and I might fly out there to see it. Wish it was on a Saturday....

Have you looked into cabin rentals?

Greenville, Sc here. They are delaying the start of schools a day because we are apparently the prime spot to see it, and it will occur when the buses are picking kids up.

Gives us a day after vacation to get ready for school so I'm good with it

Just booked outside Nashville via Air BnB. It got a lot cheaper once you are about 20 or so miles out. The lady wants to visit downtown leading up to it, but I wanna be in the outdoors during it on a trail or away from the city.

Yeah, but just at a couple of state parks. They are full.

If you have some suggestions, I'd like to hear them. Thanks.

We have family northeast of Knoxville that are directly in the path. Everyone has been trying to visit them that week.

I'm in southern Oregon, bout an hour and a half outside of Mt Shasta (Cali) which is apparently going to have a huge influx of people watching. I hope to participate, but can probably see it from my location as well

Brother lives in Mt Juliet (just east of Nashville) and directly in the center of the path. Going to watch it from his driveway.

I live in the Bryson City area of WNC. Not sure if that area interests you or your family, but I'd check Airbnb(unless you're Asian)and other rental sites to see what is available. Most local realtors also manage vacation properties so, may want to give them a call as well. I'll link some good ones as far as realtors go.
