Yes
Private investigator make a living off of this. Spouse get followed and insurance companies follow claimants. As long as it is done in public.

Yeah that’s not legal.

At first, we thought it was a simple, “trying to see if the wife is cheating on me” type of investigation. But what you’re asking for can not be legal. There’s no way.

That's what we're here to find out. Seems it's a gray area.

In public places without reasonable expectations of privacy - yes.

In private places not so much.

I'm sure that's a legit reason. I'm wondering if i just want to find out where someone lives and maybe whom with but I don't even "technically" know this person would they still do it?

You think a PI cares why you want to know? Why are you even telling them?

Always you have zero right to privacy in public and anyone can film or take pictures of you whenever they want to.

True, but I assume they are not allowed to make it public without your permission or use it for harassing you. I also assume it can only be used to back up affidavits in a civil suit or as evidence in a crime.

you don't need a PI

just ask any woman who is doing online dating or has friends that are... you'll have more info than you want about this person.

I’m guessing yes. Back to the nasty divorce thread. I’ve known parties to do this which I think is absolutely pathetic.

Have a friend who is retired FBI that does this on the side and tells me all the juicy stories.
