Everyone with a semi-normal psyche is vain, vanity is in our biology. Some are just better at hiding their vanity than others.

At our core, we are all selfish, vain and survivalist in nature. That's how we are programmed. All attributes contrary to that come from a higher order resistance to base instinct.

Basically, anyone saying they aren't vain is intentionally or unintentionally feeding you crap.

I think it's a prominent trait in everyone. I know that I inherently want to believe I am always right, that I know better than most and that my way is best. I frequently dismiss these ideas using my higher order consciousness to think rationally, but at a basic level I am extremely vain. I believe all people are.

The difference between the outwardly vain and the outwardly altruistic is the level of conscious suppression.

I got a 30 out of 40.

But I'm also pretty modest and humble in my own way. I know what I'm good at and at some things, I'm better than most. I recognize what I'm not so good at and I find ways to compensate.

As for the stare at yourself in the mirror question, sure, I spend a ton of time staring at myself in the mirror, especially at the gym. I'm in worse shape than
