Are we just sentient 3 Dimensional shadows of our 4-Dimensional selves?

For every dimension, the shadow of the lit object is in the lower dimension.
Simple example of a 1-D shadow of a 2-D square

What if we are just images resulting from a higher light emanating from a higher existence where we are seen as we really are?
