Never understood why they can't charge my card after I've crossed. Why do I need to have a specific amount in their hands beforehand? Is this gov screwing us up?

The poors don't update registration info and address so it don't matter

it'd be too costly to run a 3% cc charge on every toll event rather than 3% charge on a lump some amount.

So if and when they get pulled over they not only will get ticketed but also lose their vehicle.

Seems like something a poor would choose to do.

?

3% of 100 transactions at $2.00 a transaction $0.06 is $1.94 per.

3% of $200 is $6.00. $200.00 - $6.00 = $194.00. 194/100 = $1.94 per.

Not really, cause if they had to pay that charge every time, they would charge you more on the toll to cover it.

How he phrased it didn't make sense. I'm also relatively sure a state/city agency could negotiate a better rate.

It is more price conscious for them to batch the transaction to larger batches if charged by credit card.

If they charged every time, the processing fees would be higher, and they would pas the higher price to the consumer.

Wrong. CC fees charge fixed plus variable charges on every charge. So this example would amplify the fixed portion
